Christmas without a father is not something most folks can begin to imagine. No Dad for a kid is tough enough but at Christmas it is heartbreaking. I know.

On another matter, our administrative staff would really appreciate it if you could add tags to your post topics. It makes it easier for site users to search for information. I have been working on some Christmas gifts myself. Highchair is finished and delivered tonight. I have two "cake platters" started. This is the top of one-

 

I'll use acrylic paint to highlight the texturing.

Great post again Lew.  The information you posted will take some time to wade through.  I am ready for the challenge and will surely enjoy doing it as I do each week.  Thanks a million.

Nice job Lew. I've been watching Carl since I didn't know the difference between a bowl gouge and a spindle gouge. During that time I have grown as a turner and Carl has really grown as an artist. Your platter looks great, what size is it?
