November 18, 20178 yr Author Sorry too that my pics were not easily opened. I use a samsung tablet and don't know computers like I know my tools. I have been an auto tech for the last 30yrs and spent the last 22 at a ford dealer becoming a master technician. I walked away from it all this last March and have been loving my woodshop and my Real life. Not sure where my future will lead me but I am getting back my inspiration and joy to be working wood since leaving the shop. I have lost a lot of people lately, just like the fellow who once owned this hammer head and began to realize that there are very few old auto techs around. Too many I have known came down with cancer in their mid 60s and have passed. Three people in my shop were involved with suicide. One completed it, one was found just in time and the other was considering it. I decided I needed to change direction and find happiness again. And I am now. Somebody has asked me to post some pics of my woodwork. I haven't taken many pics of my work over the years but will try to round some up and post them here. I do almost everything, gave up perfectionism a few years ago and have dabbled in wood sculpting. I just got a Delta midi lathe with a nice OneWay chuck and am loving it. And I have a full home reno on the near horizon here at home. I have done many large slab benches for gifts and for a while had a gig making wonderful custom cutting boards for a local kitchen shop. I pretty much float around and do anything that feels good at the time. Thanks again for the wonderful help with the haamer hammer ID , you all have helped me so much! That's why we're all here Dave...to help, share and learn with one another. Great introduction Dave. Truth of the matter, your story is not unlike many of us here in many ways. Very sorry to hear of the losses of close family and friends...I can empathize with you there too. Many of the fellows I worked with have passed in the last couple of years due to cancer or heart attacks and unfortunately a few by suicide as well. Like you, I came to realize it was time to re-engage in something that used my hands & minds and I had a passion (although maybe not a skill) to do. So we share lots in common besides our name and passion for old tools...I turned wrenches a number of years in the farm equipment business, then went into manufacturing of large engines...Oh yeah, I've only owned one non-Ford PU in my life...my creed is "give me F-150 or give me death!" Anyways, glad you made it here and looking forward to seeing the the restored hammer and other projects that come across your bench.
