Dang, hate it when that happens. Have done a few successful forms the last couple of weeks and I guess I just got to aggressive on this one. Didn't have any idea I was in trouble until it separated. I was really pleased with the form on this one too. Oh well, it's how we learn!! Movin' on

That's the shavings that hadn't ejected yet. This is on me, 100%. Just got careless

And it's not even Monday either:P Looks like you have enough left you might be able to salvage to a different form? Hate to see that walnut go to the burn bin.:(

Nice piece of wood and a nice shape coming together.  Man!  I have tears in my eyes.  Every once in a while it would be nice if we got a do over from right before things went south.  All we get is a do over from the beginning.

It is tough to have that happen. I have not turned too many bowls but have already done something similar.  

I feel your pain. I ruff turned a walnut bowl. Spend two months drying it. Put it on the lathe to finish it and had a catch. Broke the bowl into 3 or 4 pieces.
