August 16, 20178 yr THIS is why Dang, hate it when that happens. Have done a few successful forms the last couple of weeks and I guess I just got to aggressive on this one. Didn't have any idea I was in trouble until it separated. I was really pleased with the form on this one too. Oh well, it's how we learn!! Movin' on Steve

August 16, 20178 yr And it's not even Monday either Looks like you have enough left you might be able to salvage to a different form? Hate to see that walnut go to the burn bin. Edited August 16, 20178 yr by Grandpadave52
August 16, 20178 yr I feel your pain, Steve, I really do. I'm sure you can create something from what's left.
August 16, 20178 yr Nice piece of wood and a nice shape coming together. Man! I have tears in my eyes. Every once in a while it would be nice if we got a do over from right before things went south. All we get is a do over from the beginning.
September 1, 20178 yr It is tough to have that happen. I have not turned too many bowls but have already done something similar.
September 2, 20178 yr I feel your pain. I ruff turned a walnut bowl. Spend two months drying it. Put it on the lathe to finish it and had a catch. Broke the bowl into 3 or 4 pieces.
