Took the weekend off and we drove over to Charleston, SC for the weekend to visit our son.  Had the best darned cut of meat I have ever tasted at Lewis BBQ in Charleston.   Beef brisket.   Should any of you get near there, I cannot recommend it enough!

Well, I'm just green with envy x2...first spending the weekend in Charleston.(2) the beef brisket...Never had heard of this place Cal, but will keep it filed back should we ever get that way again. From the pictures I assume it's in North Charleston area?

Low level bombing run accomplished. Caves filled in. Wait a couple days to see if any survived and dug out.

Found one dead female that was still nursing. So, the cyanide worked for at least one....plus her offspring will likely starve. There's no way to tell how many are dead underground. We saw three peeking at us before the bomb run. Hope we killed the cute little b@#;@rds.

@Gene Howe,

Now you need a sniper to get the ones that dig themselves out and show themselves.

Call Bill Murray...maybe he has some left over arsenal from Caddy Shack:lol:

Probably little or no shop time this week...Girls new summer sports for June started today...depending on the day, may be up to 4 round trips/day to from the High School...swim meets on Tuesday & Thursday nights...Tuesday AM, one to HS by 7 AM for weight training, one at HS by 8 AM for swim practice, back home then to Doctor appt. , back to school to pick one up, back to hospital for lab work, lunch/errands, back to school to pick other up, home for a bit, back to school so they can catch bus to swim meet...then travel to swim meet.

Wednesday, marathon mowing day...Thursday similar to Tuesday sans Dr./hospital + mowing in between; Friday rain back in the forecast...maybe a nap in between first/second run and last run at 3 PM.

You are certainly welcome. Get lots of practice here. But a lil' ole 22LR would cheaper to shoot.

Haven't seen one since the bombing. Fingers crossed.

I like the long range challange - rock chucks at the 500 to 700 yard range with my 6.5 x 47 Lapua

Unfortunately, her osteoarthritis prevents her from even traveling 100 miles to visit family members.. I know getting rid of the bird feeders would help, but that would start a war.

Dave - Not in North Charleston, pretty close to the downtown area.  N. Nassau St. on the penninsula.  Dave, I don't know how you keep up with your "uber" schedule.  I think I would have to write it down in a scheduler of some sort!

Al, you might try to convince the Mrs. that an outside cat would be good pet.  One that you don't have to feed much!  Over the years we have had two of them.  The first one we never fed, the second would have starved to death if we didn't.  But both of them kept the squirrel and chipmunk population contained to a reasonable level.

An alternative to the cat for the squirrel trouble is to change the feed to only safflower seed.  Squirrels don't care for safflower.  It could limit the types of birds you get though, you might give it a try.  How do the squirrels access the feeder?  My feeder used to attract squirrels and I made a skirt for the pole with some roofing tin.  You could also put up a squirrel feeder a ways away from the bird feeder to give the squirrels their own place to go to.  By itself it won't keep them out of the bird feeder, but a combination of these things can help mitigate the problem.  I used to make and sell a squirrel feeder that you attached an ear of corn to a long paddle, when the squirrels climbed up, it would rotate around like the hand of a clock.  At first they would be shy, but when they figured it out it was a lot of fun to watch them ride it down.
