May 10, 20179 yr Popular Post Although I have a nice saw til, full of very good handsaws.....I don't like to use them anywhere near nails and screws....so, I happen to have a saw just for that kind of work, hanging around.. That yellow handled saw from Aldi's... Ok, I had three old, nasty 2x4s outside, leaning against the shed. Nails, screws, hardware, and big bugs....no way am I bringing that mess down into the shop... Went through each 2x4, trying to cut out the worst of the mess.. Handsome, ain't they? Didn't even use a square, just the old MK-1 Eyeball......managed to get six good pieces out of the three... As for that saw... IF you get it started nice and straight, it will cut straight. It cuts FAST, though, if you use the entire blade. Well, got my "Cardio" for the day.....oh, and about the bad stuff that was chopped out/off? We have ways....who's got the hotdogs? I also use this thing to get rid of all the BIG cardboard trash. Intend to resaw those six boards down a bit....need small parts for that Pantry Project build. Might even cobble up a small box with some of it.. Saw is just an 8ppi, hardtooth, panel saw. handle doesn't feel too bad, no blisters this time. At least I did make a bit of sawdust, today....
May 11, 20179 yr In Cinci, you have to have http://www.skylinechili.com/coneys.php I'm not a native, so never got into that too much.
May 11, 20179 yr Popular Post In Youngstown it is I buy a pint of chili to take home and put it in the freezer for use when needed. Never know when the hankering for a good chili dog is going to pop up.

I don't know what was in Jay's building before they were but the first Arby's was just down the hill from them and had a rounded roof. The building is still there and is an Wild Birds Unlimited store. Here is the first Arby's. Here's what it looks like today Can't see the building for the trees but is the best I can find on the net. May 11, 20179 yr Author Almost like a building shaped like a brown hat? St Rt 8, just south of Stow, OH. Shaped like a Derby, it was. Not sure what happened to it, after the Interstate was built through there...
May 11, 20179 yr The one I remember was on the north side of town, Belmont Ave, (SR 193 now, but 170, and before that 90). In Liberty Plaza, which now appears to be Wal*mart. That's where the JC Penney, A&P grocery and Stambaugh hardware stores we went to most often.
May 11, 20179 yr The following is an excerpt from Wikipedia. Arby's was founded in Boardman, Ohio, on July 23, 1964, by Forrest (1922–2008)[8] and Leroy Raffel (1927)[citation needed], owners of a restaurant equipment business who thought there was a market opportunity for a fast food franchise based on a food other than hamburgers. The brothers wanted to call their restaurants "Big Tex", but that name was already used by an Akron business. Instead, they chose the name "Arby's", based on R. B., the initials of Raffel Brothers.[9][10] The Raffel brothers opened the first new restaurant in Boardman, Ohio, just outside Youngstown, on July 23, 1964. They initially served only roast beef sandwiches, potato chips, and soft drinks. Hoping to attract a more upscale clientele, Arby's interior design was purposely more luxurious in appearance than the typical fast food sandwich stand of the day. Arby's offered their roast beef sandwiches for $.69 at a time when hamburger stands were charging $.15 for a hamburger.[11] The original buildings had a rounded roof meant to resemble a covered wagon and the sign had the shape of a hat.
May 11, 20179 yr Well coming to NE side of Indy (Fishers) this fall is this....Road trip already planned! When I was traveling to the Chicago-land area, while there I always ate Portillos at least once...every once in a while, I'd treat myself (via expense account) to one of their famous Chocolate Cake Shakes...makes the Chicago dogs or Italian beef go down just that much better...They have the original Chicago Dogs...every bit as good as one from downtown vendors or Wrigley Field...bet ya' can't eat just one! Oh, BTW...no ketchup allowed...not on a Chicago dog! @Gene Howe...IDK but looks like they have (2) locations in AZ. Scottsdale & Tempe...plus two in CA...Buena Park & Moreno Valley http://www.portillos.com/all-menus/ Edited May 11, 20179 yr by Grandpadave52
May 11, 20179 yr Author Anyone ever eat at The Brown Derby? Used to drive past the one on St Rt 8......Cuyahoga Falls area, just north of the Gorge. Came down from North Hill ,Akron on the way to a Trade School....
May 12, 20179 yr 26 minutes ago, Gene Howe said: Dave, that looks like AZ dirt. I'll have to try it out next time I'm in Scottsdale. Oh yeah...you gotta' give them a try Gene...you'll love it! Hopefully since Dick Portillo sold to an investment company a couple of years ago, the quality & service hasn't changed since franchised...for years his philosophy was not to operate outside of the greater Chicago area. In the Chicago-land area it didn't matter which one you went to, the quality of the food and service was identical. Weekend nights during the summer months the places are insanely busy!
