May 10, 20179 yr In today's Email.....Paul Sellers was doing a review of a new drill from Aldi's.....18v Lithium ion. Seemed very pleased with it. Cost him about 24 pounds ( English money). Seems to think it will do the same as his DeWalt 18v. Seem to be about the same size. I guess I will have to keep a eye out around this side of the "pond" and see what they look like. Just a heads up...
May 10, 20179 yr The WorkZone 18V and their chisels have garnered some good reviews. Both are currently available at stateside Aldi's. According to their store locator, none in AZ, though.
May 10, 20179 yr Aldi's... like in grocery store? Maybe I should go grocery shopping with SWMBO? Say it ain't so! Cal
May 10, 20179 yr Author Aldi's is where I got my VERY good set of 4 chisels. I get Sellers' blogs in my email all the time....some I keep, some I don't.
May 10, 20179 yr Since moving, I'm liking Aldi's more and more. Our local Kroger is a "marketplace" meaning they have small appliances, clothing, patio furniture, and who knows what else. I hate having to walk a quarter mile to pick up a bag of apples, a gallon milk, and a prescription, all in opposite corners of the store. In and out of Aldi's in 5 minutes -- and I can find stuff there instead of looking bewildered wondering if that tomato sauce is in canned foods, Hispanic foods, or canned vegetable aisles. Then having to decide among the 30 choices.
May 10, 20179 yr Author Just checked at my local Aldi's store...nothing ...yet....might be one of those Fathers' Day Specials...
May 10, 20179 yr I like Aldi's. I'm told they pay well and treat their employees with respect. Can't honestly say I've ever purchased a tool from them. I have purchased shelf units before, several of them in fact. A month or so back wife brought home two filet's from Aldi's. They were excellent. Steve
May 10, 20179 yr Never heard of them, too far West and too far North. https://storelocator.aldi.us/Presentation/AldiSued/en-us/Start Herb
May 20, 20179 yr Popular Post Local stores don't have the drill. I stopped by one in Dayton when I was up that way. Manager said they'd had a few the week before but looks like they sold out. That store was about 3x the size of the ones in my area. Still a little on the fence -- Ridgid generally runs a $99 special on drill/driver and impact driver, 2 batteries and charger. 12V, but lifetime replacements on batteries. And it's compatible with my my EDC drill (every day carry). Point of note, I needed to buy some milk this week. I stopped at one store but it wasn't open yet. Menards right next door. They had milk for $1.06 per gallon plus an 11% rebate.
June 1, 20179 yr Author Ijust checked the Aldi's sale ads for this coming weekend......Bellefontaine, OH store.....$29.99 Will be on sale Sunday. Show up when the store opens, to make sure you get one.

June 6, 20179 yr I have not bought any house-brand tools at Menards. But they do carry some of the major brands that I'd buy. If you are lucky, you can find them when they switch brands and get the old brand at the clearance rack. Bought a few good router bits that way.
