Dave, if it is storming I don't work on the lathe and I unplug it EVERY TIME I am done for the day.  That day was sunny and nice as could be.  Those pictures show how sunny it was that day.  Freak storm for sure.

Gotcha'...I was just thinking though for even this random, one-off occurrences would it be feasible or work particularly when you're dealing with circuit boards. You may not be as prone to things like we are on a Rural Cooperative, but we occasionally have power off occurrences for unknown reasons, then back on...I've seen the lights come back on brighter momentarily before it stabilizes. Farm equipment sometimes takes out power poles too getting hung up in brace wires. IDK, just thought it might be worth checking into for when your using it.

Maybe Dave.  The do have whole house surge protectors.

That is what they are calling it.  Said some of the winds hit 90mph.
