Good Monday Morning Woodworkers!

What's on your agenda for the week ahead, and what did you all get done over the weekend?

Myself, I was tied up with family obligations over the weekend and did not get a chance to get in the ol shop, next weekend isn't looking so great either, so my beloved Curly Maple Rocker had a screaming start, but we came to a rapid halt with it. Life got busy!

But what about you all? We love to hear what you're doing, what you have planned, and please post images of your projects, and images of you! We live in a world of avatars these days, lets see our Patriot Woodworker's at work!

Short and sweet today folks, we hope you all have a wonderful week ahead, stay safe, and as @Ralph Allen Jones always says, "Keep your hands at least 6" from any cutting blade!"

Since the shop is in limbo pending drywall work, I'll be trying to get the garden in this week. No small task since it doesn't exist at the moment, so I'm starting with a section of the yard and going from there It does complicate things that we had 2" of rain yesterday. Speaking of which, any of you in the center of the country that suffered though some of the bad weather over the weekend, I hope things are OK.

The last couple days were spent setting up and using a jig to cut dove tail keys for box corners. Will use them on the gun case.

Work on the gun case has de-commenced until T Track arrives so I can make a couple more track saws. The case is too big to cut open on the Shopsmith.

In the meantime, there's a couple new toys to assemble. One is the microjig micro dial. Assembling and playing with that should keep me off the streets til the T Track gets here.

Here's a pic of a table top made with the Micro Dial. It's 100" long and 53" wide.

Not exactly wood but this week I will be bringing a very large propane tank over to my house and will turn it into a pressure tank for the submerged  pump in the lake. Any body know what a 30" x 7' diameter tank weights. My Kubota with the lift on the front might not be able to lift it high enough to back the trailer under it, then what?

No woodworking in my shop this weekend. Played golf on Saturday morning and was thankful I didn't have to play my own ball the entire round. I did good considering it has been three years since I last played and two knee replacements. It was fun to just be out.

This morning it is back to the shop though to get ready for a show this Friday night.

When mine of that size was delivered, it came on a flat bed and was off loaded with permanently mounted small crane winch. It seemed to not struggle. I have no idea what was used to get it on the bed in the first place. You might call a local propane dealer and ask the weight.

On Friday my wife Tami and I celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary. She took the day off so we could go to her favorite place "Disneyland" for the day. Being big Star Wars fans, we got to take a few pictures with Chewbacca who is our favorite of the characters. We had beautiful weather and we had a great time walking around and enjoying our time together. Saturday we had breakfast and then decided to take a drive on the back roads in the country side and worked our way to Palm Springs where we hoped to walk around. The weather was sunny, but we had a lot of wind so we decided not to walk around outside but headed back towards home and went to a Thrift Store that Tami had been wanting to go to. We picked up a few odds and ends and I found some old cast iron shelf brackets which will work out great for a couple of shelves that I made out of reclaimed wood that I plan on selling. Went to first service at church on Sunday and then headed out for breakfast before driving down to the "Circle of Orange" which was about 30 minutes away. It is the old center of the City of Orange and they have a bunch of consignment and antique stores as we were looking for a small table for our upstairs bonus room/office.

My plans for today is to get some oil/varnish on the 2 large Madrone shelves that have a lot of character due to having had a lot of beetles chewing their way through the wood leaving a lot of paths in it. They are both 44" long. Later this week when I get done with the Madrone shelves, I will be working on some more shelves from reclaimed slabs of hard yellow pine. They have some really cool grain as they came from old growth so no knots.

Finally got into the shop this weekend for some quality time. I finished up the router table cabinet and installed that under the router table:

And, I moved my router bit/router cabinet onto the work bench to get this project completed. I installed edging on the exposed plywood edges and now I am ready to add 2 doors and 2 drawers to it.

I finished up some outlets at the lathe so not so much cordage hanging. Hollowed another Beads of Courage Bowl, That makes 4 drying now. Worked on cutting some blanks and gathering supplies for the Jimmy Clewes Demo at Magnolia Woodturners next month.

Planning on more BOC and some shop cleaning as I have a Spring Open Shop Turning for the club in my shop in 2 weeks.

Weekend was a bust...Rain started on Thursday 16 hours before forecast and rained pretty much non-stop even through last night and yet again today. We're at ~5+", but still fared better than many throughout the Midwest. I need to mow, but we have standing water in places, plus it's raining now with forecast for chances of rain every day this week through Saturday.

I didn't feel too well Friday AM but managed to get town for a few errands after Noon, then stopped at the Body Shop to settle up and look at the truck...it began raining so hard they moved it back in the shop to resolve a couple issues I wasn't happy with. I still have to get the exhaust system replaced from the muffler back...it's a custom dual-system I had installed about three years ago...some "kids" never grow up.:P My wife took me back to town yesterday evening to finally bring the truck back home.

Came home Friday PM crashed & burned in my chair with a fever ~100.50 +/-...Fever fluctuated between ~99.5 to 102.4o through Saturday night spent most of Saturday either in bed or my chair...managed to make it to the weekend clinic yesterday about 1 PM...diagnosis strep throat...got an antibiotic started. I feel slightly better today but my throat is still sore, very tender on outside of my neck, voice is raspy and hurts to talk much so not much planned next couple of days regardless of weather.

@Grandpadave52

I hope you get feeling better soon. With all of that rain, you might as well stay in, rest up and get well. The mowing will be there when you are better.

Over the weekend, got that saw cleaned up, and working..

I think it just might work...

Monday?    Kind of says it all........The male pup we have went to get "fixed" today......and YOU think you had a bad day.....:o

My sympathies, Dave. Take care of yourself, y'here.

GrandpaDave, Take your time in recuperating it'll all still be there when you are back to bright eyed and bushy tailed.

Spent Saturday at an auction of a lifelong local resident who once owned one of the local lumberyards a while back, his wife is in the nursing home and as he has age he doesnt do the wood thing any longer. Kinda sad really.

He had accumulated alot of w/w related stuff over the years, there were 3 large equipment trailers, an out building with some lumber some really nice household items, furniture and such, and for those of us here, a good deal of staionary ww equipment, table saw, drill press, dual drum sander, 15 " planer etc. One of the trailers was just shop stuff, alot of odds n ends, some small power tools, just a lifetime of a hobby no longer able to be pursued.  I was working on a very limited budget but picked up a large quantity of sandpaper, an origional incra jig posiioner with templates and book, and a few other things before my better half started grousing about dinner and being bored.  go figure.;)

For a change the bidding didnt get stupid like it often does, good for the buyer, but I felt bad for the seller.

Sunday was catching up on the honey do's and repenting for the day before to my wifes desires. this sort of thing has been working for 34 years, if it works dont fix it.

SMallpatch,I ork in the propane industry, hence my handle. Based on your dimensions, it sounds like you have a 250 gallon tank. depending on its vintage it can weigh anywhere from about 450 to around 800#'s depending on it's vintage. Older is heavier.

Got the patio furniture set up and the Grill running in hopes we will have a summer here.

Dave, I sincerely hope you will get better soon. You've had way more than your share of health problems with the stones and everything else.

Dave hope you are feeling better tonight
