Disston/HK Porter "Journeyman" saw.   Even had the price tag on it.  "etch" was a silk screened thing.  Handle is a bit to blocky...soo.

Saw #3?  Same size, no hanger hole in the plate.   Had a slight bend I had to fix.  Still looking for an etch.   Seemed to be a little older than #2.     Still had a blocky handle....had

Amazing what a bit of sanding can do.   Hardware has been polished up.   Plate was removed, cleaned and polished up.  Handle was given a "wipe-on, wipe-off" coat of "Brew".

Screws were clocked.   Saw MIGHT look a bit better, now.

Plate is straight.  May go back and sharpen those 8ppi teeth, next time.  Not too bad?

I'd say that's a successful restoration, nice job Steve, the handle turned out great!

Great Work!

Nice job Steve. Really looks nice.

Shined the AL. hardware up.   Sanded, rasps, and a file to reshape things...and get rid of that price tag...

Wiped this down, sanded it with some 1000 grit paper.....meh, silk screen is gone.    Had to stop for the night.....Gulley-washer came through...

And...we have a creek running through the shop.  rag was full of BLO anyway, one way to keep it safe.

maybe tomorrow, I can finish this saw up?

Handle still wasn't dry at noonish today......rubbed it out, anyway.

Got out the saw vise, and a file....tried a refresh on the teeth......meh....may just go with a rip cut for the file work.   Not enough set for crosscut work.....but, it will do rips a lot smoother than my 5-1/2ppi saw does.

Will try to post a few shots of the finished saw, later.    I guess the D-8 8ppi crosscut saw is done at the sharpener service.    Don't mind the $0.60 per inch on a D-8, but.....$14 on this "new" will take the costs up to the same as a saw at Menards.   ~ $16.00, or so.  paid a dollar for it last year......

And, it is dry, and teeth worked on...

Very late model Disston/HK Porter style...

Yet another great save from the scrap bin. Always enjoy seeing what you find to bring back to life!
