Tie it on the roof It's an excellent idea Gerald, but time being an issue these days, I just don't have the time to head out and pick up something that I have to then modify further to work. If it was in the 24" width range, I'd a been all over it. Roof! Don't need no stinkin roof tie up! We got's a big ol Expedition!
April 7, 20179 yr Very nice bench. Top looks very solid. You can always build a better base if need be. I like that type of vice a lot. I have two that I made for my old bench that I will probably move to my new bench.
May 1, 20179 yr Not sure if you all heard the Sjobergs Elite 2000 and 2500 is to be discontinued here in the Americas. THe ones here,(including mine lol trashed yes but fixable) are it they are not sending anymore on account of shiping cost and etc... cant blame them. but sad bummer part is, since last year ive been checking out there website but the EU versions. They have some great mid and smaller size bench tops and even trestle assemblies that after doing the conversion is not so bad a price. Has of yet they do not ship those our way but hopefully taking the two goliaths off the US and CA market will encourage them to start selling the already EU popular Tall Storage cabinets, the sewing table, the student series and etc.

Thanks for the great information. What part of your bench is destroyed out of curiosity?

What part of your bench is destroyed out of curiosity? no problem, I usually, not lately but usually know the know, only because i will web crawl or read or listen to podcasts in my free times. no work, or kids, or normal sleep hours means loads of time to research. mostly on the bench top, where the glue up was done. Rob said a friend of his was transporting a few of these in the back of a truck and got caught in the rain... the glue up joints were all weakened and they had hell of a time to try to make it true up. i also had a small electrical fire, during the flooding, mostly just shorting and smoke from faulty old wiring that i also had reported.... so regardless of me turning off all the breakers, is what it is
