Is it asking too much

Just a simple request, pIease add where you live as you are signing in. I'm sitting reading a post now and am really wondering what part of the country everyone calls home... Even some of those ---oh no he don't live there does he--- or why in the world would anyone want to live there.....

Once the young guns are old enough to move away from mom and dad, did they or will they. Its kind of scary to go on your own and not have mom to do your laundry anymore.

I wonder if some folks don't list their location for Internet anonymity- if there is such a thing.

I'm in south central PA, west of Gettysburg.

I'm on a mesa in Arizona. Just south of route 40. I don't care if anyone knows my location. Even family gets lost trying to find it.

I live in a little town 30 miles South of Seattle WA, still raining.

I have nothing to hide.  My locale is in every post.  Jess, where's yours?

I have my location listed on the profile, but I see it doesn't show up here (in the post info). Heck, I can't even figure out how to get it posted at the bottom like Kelly and Dan. That aside, I don't understand it, but some folks do like to keep that info secret (along with their real names). Different strokes for different folks. On another forum someone posted a table saw for sale. I asked where the location of the saw was; the reply was "PM me for more info".

Fred, click on your "Account Settings" in the drop down menu below your name at the upper right of our community, and then go to the left column on your account page, and edit your "Signature".

Let me know if you need further help in this.

So long as you're still able to find it is what's important:lol:

BTW, Patch, Pretty sure you know my exact location, but generally West Central Indiana centered amidst the corn & soybean fields...About 30 miles, SW of Lafayette, IN...Right along the "are you sure this road goes somewhere?"

I'm located in Salisbury, Massachusetts. A small seacoast town in the extreme northeast corner of the state. Our winter population has grown to about 8,000. In summer months it grows to about 5X that.

The locations are also available in the pull down menu titled "Profile Information" under your avatars, just in case anyone missed it. It's easy to miss stuff like that around here, lots of cool features going on.

It is John only if an individual populates that field. I don't recall it being a Required field during initial registration but could be wrong on that point.

Absolutely right about all the features this site has to offer...almost endless!

I do understand that, when I created the profile fields in the beginning, I was hesitant on making the location field mandatory, I can do that, but I did not want to discourage any potential woodworkers from joining us, due to their own privacy concerns, so I made the location field "optional".

Used to be a general location map in the bio which is not there anymore.

That area went down Dan, with our maintenance of Member Map, the map will be reinstated shortly coincidentally.

I know there is a place for where their home town goes but what got me to thinking again where Gene lived. He said he was building something out of walnut so I looked at his bio to see where in that part of the world is he going to get walnut wood....It says nothing

...I knew he jumped Cal out for not stopping when he was on his way to Phoenix and he said he only lived a few miles from I-40....so I thought he didn't mind people knowing. But also being close to I - 40 don't tell me much for its a long road. So Gene you didn't add where you live in your bio.. I also got a surprise while looking at gene's stuff. It says he is a girl...That is great, but a question still arises. Who am I talking to when trying to explain something with my very short education. It has always been a big problem trying to make people understand... Or else our highway patrols don't want to understand.......Also trying to get someone to understand who has never held a hammer or used a  saw, any kind of saw  for that matter takes more words than than talking to someone who does woodworking every day...

Glad to see the ladies doing woodworking.  Now my question is does your husband do the cooking and the house cleaning???? Hopefully you are married and if so you two have an  neat thing going. ?  And no it might be better to not comment one way or the other....

Having where you live and you mention its snowing at your house, I flip over to the bio to see where.......... Stick is there anything wrong with that?? Like when you were thinking about coming and getting those two wood stoves I got, I remembered about where you lived so I thought 700 miles one way might be a little too far. Unless the trip could be turned into a sight seeing trip...

Theres just lots of good reasons to add you state and even your town to your bio

This ole boy lives in the booming metrocenter called Hartford CIty, Indiana.  We're located smack dab between Indianapolis and Ft. Wayne.

Hey, Jesse. I'm a male. Thanks for pointing out that discrepancy.

I thought it had been remedied some time ago. Same for the location. Hope it took, this time.

To be specific, our house is 16.7 miles east of Snowflake and 21.3 miles south of Holbrook, AZ. Holbrook is adjacent to route 40, 5 hrs west of Albuquerque and, an hour and a half east of Flagstaff.

The walnut was trailered from Tennessee and Illinois.

Jess, we are going to get that member map back up very soon too, based on your feedback, I loved the member map but it was glitching and it was putting Ron Dudelston for example, an Indiana man, in Pakistan.

But talking to the developer of that software a few weeks ago, he stated the glitches are no longer there, and the map is working smoothly, so we'll bring it back, perhaps I'll put some hours in it this weekend and see about getting it all set up and live for us.

Thanks for the great suggestions @Smallpatch!
