April 14, 20179 yr Author Popular Post The walnut used for this prototype wasn't the pick of the litter. Lots of knots. So, they needed tended to. I usually use System 3 epoxy but, decided to try LocTite brand for these small flaws. I think I'll stick with System 3 in the future. Anyway, got the holes filled. Wrapped blocks of scrap with clear packing tape for dams. Easier than messing with Saran wrap. And, Phyl won't holler at me, either. No pics, but the boards are sanded and ready for dados.
April 15, 20179 yr Author Popular Post Dados for the bottom panel and raised panel are done. Another dry fit to gauge the panels size. I'm not a fan of tapes or folding rules for this job. Here's how I get my sizes. Nice oil cloth, right? Can you believe Phyl was gonna throw it away? Along with a lot of that mesh stuff she had under rugs to keep them from sliding on the wood floors. I rescued the lot. Edited April 16, 20179 yr by Gene Howe
May 7, 20179 yr Author The T Trac got here. The shorter tracks for the saws were finished yesterday. Lid should get cut today ..... after some honey-do jobs. Pictures of the cutting process to follow.

May 7, 20179 yr Author If you have enough clamps, you can secure anything. After some head scratching, I called Rube for advice. This what we came up with. The two pipe clamps at the bottom stretch across the bench and hold the case tight. Only one is visible but, the bar clamps hold those two oak ottoman legs to the sides. And, the Ponys hold the track in place. There's double sided tape under the track and between the oak legs and the case. Tried to eliminate any possible movement. IT WORKED! I'm done for the day and celebrating with a large glass of un sweetened iced tea.
