Good Monday Morning Folks!

Ok, a new week, a new attitude, and a new season. Spring has sprung, and energy is already in the air in my neck of the woods, wife was out gardening this past weekend, the birds were chirping crazily, lawn mowers around the neighborhood were buzzing like mad. You can certainly tell it is, SPRING!

What have you all done in your shops over this past weekend, and what do you have planned for the week ahead? We'd love to hear from you and we'd love to see images of your activities. Also, home improvements are starting this time of year, make sure you head on over to our Home Improvement forum and show us your handy work with your homes, patios, and barbecues.

Who me?

Now that the short brick retaining wall is done, shop time is in the offing. But first, a trip to town for meds, propane, and whatever Phyl needs THEN, shop time. I'm in the throes of withdrawal.

Taking a week off from making honey dipper lids, sort of. Going out for breakfast with my brother and sister this morning and after, Chuck and I will go to the hardwood mill in Columbia City IN. I'll pick up some white oak, hickory, ash and hopefully I'll snag some kiln samples as well. I started videoing a new youtube offering yesterday. Not ready to tell what it's going to be just yet but here's a teaser screen shot. Anyone care to hazard a guess? I will be truthful and admit it if someone gets it right.

A segmented honey dipper lid.  The week off went by fast.

I helped the wife mow the yard this weekend. By help, I mean getting the mower started and watching her from a chair.

On Friday, I have my follow up appointment with the surgeon (6 weeks tomorrow since surgery). Hopefully, the cast comes off and I get a walking boot and I can drive myself, will have to wait and see

Yard didn't need mowed but there was a lot of debris from the winds we have had lately.  Picked up the big branches, 3/4 inch and up.  I have and older John Deer riding mower set up with a bagger and as set of high lift blades.  The thing sucks like a vacuum. It picks up and mulches everything in its path.  Rode it around and the only raking I did was leveling the piles I dumped in the woods.  Did a little shop cleaning too.

Pencil holder!

Managed another weekend of H.S. and NCAA tourney games...my brackets are BUSTED so time to move on...I did get a little cleanup time in the garage. Today is oldest grandson's 6th birthday already...Party tonight.

Week ahead: pick-up sticks, yard debris, get lawn equipment ready as the mowing season is rapidly approaching. With the warmer temperatures, maybe some more garage clean-up and putting to "bed" some projects started last November...

We had a very busy weekend in the shop and got a lot accomplished. I cut out and glued up cutting boards on Friday and got them sanded. I got the corners rounded over and the corners rounded and now they are getting oiled.

I cut out pieces for bread dipping trays and got them glued and clamped.

Then got them out of the clamps and planed.

Each one will make two boards. The are cut and rounded and today I will route the recess in them to hold the bowl. Twelve of them to get ready and then put the oil on them.

After making the Cedar Egg Tables last weekend we had a pile of cutoffs. So Saturday morning we took the cutoffs and I made a pattern so we could make cedar crates.

After making the first one we got started and made 10 stacking Cedar Crates from the cutoffs. I posted them and sold six within a few minutes.

So today I am finishing up the bread trays and starting on some oak shadow boxes that I am remaking due to a change order. Hoping to get a batch of Pizza Peels cut out and glued.

All the cedar in here sure smells good right now!

John,

That is pretty cool how you can take the "scaps" from the egg tables, make something so simple and then sell them so quickly!

Thanks Kelly, sometimes it amazes me! For a while I was cutting that up and putting it in boxes and giving it to people for kindling. I got to looking at how much of it we had and decided to see if I could make something easy and fast. I posted them on my Facebook page and one lady sent me a PM for four and another lady took two. I posted them for 25.00/ea and they left here. That I like.

You did have a busy weekend John. Everything looks Nice!!

Great job!!

I'm starting to get ready for spring. Got the deck out cleaned and painted. Got the blades sharpened.

I usually wait alittle longer but with surgery coming up by the time I would be ready to do it the grass would be knee high.

I got my mower deck on the Garden Tractor and just to try it out I  mowed where the dogs do their thing.

I'm officially ready for the growing season. Sure hope it doesn't snow? ohlord.gif

Not much woodworking is going to be getting done for awhile.
