I'm an official stand-in today.  My good friend and fellow admin, John Moody, is doing a 2 day show where the cell service is less than stellar so he asked if I would ask y'all, "What's on your weekend agenda"?  I finished a pair of bookcases this week and was just about ready to finish a smaller one for summer show stock when my son asked if I would tag team an oak side table with him.  As we we cutting out the table, his wife wandered into the shop and spied the oak bookcase that I was building.  Needless to say, it will have a new home soon in my son's living room.  Sigh......   Next week I'll be starting the largest single project I've ever tackled.  I've been commissioned to build 24 storage racks for a local school corporation.   Here's a couple of pictures of my DIL's new bookcase and the side table we have started.

Nice bookcase! Good luck with the school project.

I have a little natural edge bowl on the lathe. Trying to figure out the best way to complete the foot.

As finishing time approaches, I'm reassembling my DIY spray booth in a different area => different configuration.   Not quite sure the final version yet.   But I'm probably going to add some heavy plastic sheeting to the side walls.   New ceiling is about 5" lower than the old one so that is causing some problems.  Had to move out the inherited with the house work table (I think it does not fit through the doorway out).  Re-do it to be the table top tool station, move in another work surface to the finish room, etc.

Still trying to complete the wiring in my shop, 2 circuits to go plus an outdoor porch light, then on to insulation. I thought I could contain my anxiety to get this completed, but I'm getting pretty antsy. You make a fine stand-in Ron.

nothing presently.

just wrapped up the storage cabinet for the bathroom.  painted poplar and plywood exterior, pre-finished plywood interior. tile top on top of concrete board.

next week is some yard/dirt work around the house, need to finalize my Rockler order so i can turn some pizza cutter and pizza server handles someday before May.

Good luck with school project Ron. I am sure you will do well and it will look nice, just like your bookcases.

I am in Day 23 of Captivity, 1/2 way through, I hope. No real plans other than hanging out, reading and such. The weather is supposed to hit 70 by Monday. I might wander out to the shop (on the knee scooter) and see if I can't get a little paint on the router table cabinet, we'll see.

Dropped two handsaws off at a sharpening service......might get them back next week....Test drive NEXT Friday....maybe.

I suppose I should meander down and do a few more finger joints?    Maybe take the camera along......

Finished lining the drawers on the jewellery chest. Gave everything a coat of wax. Just have the hanging earring thingies to install and it's finally done.

Spent the last few hours rearranging lumber. Finally got some room in the shed so I'm bringing in walnut maple and cherry that's been wrapped and covered outside. About 300 bf total of 4/4. Most is decent. Got it in eastern TN about 7 years ago.

Gonna make a supply run to phoenix tomorrow. Tuesday will start a rifle case prototype. Couple of new to me techniques to try before cutting in to the mesquite.

Thanks Fred but I'm not as humble as John.  Just ask him. ;)

Adjusted the end a bit, to better fit the slotted bolts on this fancy plane...

Fred, I hope you are putting in some 240v. outlets. I put a single 240 v. outlet every 8' down both sides and a 120v 4-plex every 8' in between . Then some 120v 4-plexes down the ceiling for cord drops. This gives you the option of moving or adding equipment in the future. I hate cords strung on the floor to the equipment.

Shop work is on stand-by since temps will be low 30's high, mid teens low for next few days. Spent this PM with my step-brother and father before SB heads back home to San Antonio Saturday early AM.

Afternoon was meeting with monument company; 2nd one this week...then trip to cemetery with SB & step-father

Saturday, shuttling grand-daughters to/from activities...in between there is an antique mall I haven't been to in a long time...maybe a rust hunt??? Have a couple honey-do's past do so????? It's been a a nap deprivation week again so maybe....zzzzzz....zzzzz:D

Great job filling in Ron except for the donuts...John always brings donuts on Friday:rolleyes:...Really nice bookcase. Too bad it's already spoken for:P

Yes, I did similar, but not as many 240V.    I had a 240V circuit on both sides of my last shop space and found I only used the ones on one side. But then again it was only 12' wide.   My new ceiling 120v circuit has a switched and un-switched duplex on each box.   So now I can turn on all the lights in the main work area with one switch instead of pulling chains all the way down the length of the shop.

The other thing I did in both shops was to put my dust collector on a double pole wall switch next to the table saw. and near the planer.

Today just kinda hung loose in the shop, and a few honey-do's. Buddy of mine at work is remodeling his home and he asked if I could join two oak boards together for a wide stair tread and round the lead edge, I did. First time I used my routers in over a year! My neighbors aren't used to all that noise.
