Holy cow!!! This whole page sounds like everyone is hurt, sick, recovering and just in pain.

Hope EVERYONE gets to feeling better really soon and able to get back into the shop.

I won't be getting back in the shop today but tomorrow I hope to get in the shop and finish the bed that I built. Just have to finish the rails and then sometime I have to stain it. Then work on the ice maker and try to figure out the water flow problem on that. Then it's off to the spare bedroom to start tearing it apart so I can do alittle plastering, paint, build a new valance and put the whole thing back together again.

At the time I did not know if it was the RO or the glove that caused the reaction.

Russian Olive is often host to the Black Knot fungus, and apparently THAT is what caused my problem.

John

My brother wants to supply some Russian Olive to make another rifle case. I've never had the pleasure of working with it. Are there any health concerns I should be worried about?

leave me outta this group...

Not with the wood, Gene. The BK fungus infects the outer layer of bark. For bark-on turnings or such, wear a dust mask, but the big problem is with wounds that allow the fungus entry into the body.

John

Thanks for the info, John. Hopefully, what he brings isn't live edge.

Dave that shot was live virus and now it will NOT give you the flu. When you feel better go and get a shot, yes you can get it again. Listen to your Pharmacist......ME.

Good to have the expertise on staff here Gerald.^_^ My doctor & local pharmacist ALSO told me the same...with this consensus, it's got me thinking...

My wife has been getting the flu shot for years as a part of her work; paid off this year she won an 8" Google Tablet, BUT like the past several she ends up with both respiratory and intestinal flu every year at least 2x...I somehow avoided the 3 waves that went through the house with all the grandkids, and everyone else...once they were all well beyond it, yep, ole gramps got it...very untypical for me...it can't have anything to do with age can it?:D

Dave, sorry about the yucchies. Hope they're gone soon. Get the shot! They don't even hurt anymore.

Thanks Gene...I was pretty sorry about it too:P...It's not the shot that bothers me, it's having to take off my flannel shirt to get to the injection site...

@Grandpadave52 I think the best way for you not to get the crude is to stay in the shop away the all of the carriers  :P

The weather has been in the 50's yesterday and today, so i finally got the partition wall finished in my someday-to-be shop building. I reaffirmed my belief that woodworkers don't make great carpenters. But at least now I can continue on with the wiring.

My thoughts exactly.  I like the guy that sticks his hand out for me to shake and proceeds to tell me how sick he has been.  There is a country that shaking hands was ruled unlawful for this reason but I can't remember which one.

Age has nothing to do with getting or not getting intestinal flu and no shot for it either. Age does mean when us old folks get it it could be a serious problem if we do not take care and get lots of rest , fluids, Lease the solid foods off and go with bland diet till clears.
