Popular Post HandyDan Posted December 10, 2016 Popular Post Report Posted December 10, 2016 Decided to make some potpourri bowls for my brothers and sisters for Christmas this year. I had some 1 3/4" Poplar 6" wide and glued two pieces together to make 6"X3.5" bowls. I have been seeing air freshener beads in the stores and decided to use them for the fragrance. I found some aluminum cups to hold the beads since there is moisture involved and hollowed out the bowls to fit them and put a recess for the covers too. Gerald, Cal, steamshovel and 4 others 7 Quote
lew Posted December 10, 2016 Report Posted December 10, 2016 Now that is a cool idea! I love it! Where did you get the "covers" ? Quote

I have been watching for them at the thrift stores for a couple years. I usually get them for fifty cents or a dollar. They can be had new (Google potpourri covers) at various places, Lee Valley is one. http://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=32877&cat=1,250,43243 Quote
Gerald Posted December 10, 2016 Report Posted December 10, 2016 Dan great idea with the beads. Where did the cups come from? Quote
Dadio Posted December 10, 2016 Report Posted December 10, 2016 I think that is a real kool idea and you did a great job turning. The covers set them off nicely. Herb Quote
Steve Krumanaker Posted December 10, 2016 Report Posted December 10, 2016 Very nice! My wife would love those and I'm sure your siblings will too. I never even knew there was such a thing as potpourri covers. Thanks for sharing this. Where does the moisture come from? Do the balls disintegrate or something? Steve Quote

Check out the knick knack shelves. They have glass and brass candle cups that could work too. Any little cup will do. Quote

Steve The balls are moist in the container so I assume they ooze moisture as it evaporates. This is a first for me using them so not real sure. Quote
DuckSoup Posted December 10, 2016 Report Posted December 10, 2016 Great looking pieces Dan. Good idea for the supplies and covers. Quote

Cliff Posted December 12, 2016 Report Posted December 12, 2016 Nice little bowls. I can't stand artificial odors. Drives me crazy how marketing insists on putting a scent into everything. Quote
