Popular Post John Moody Posted October 21, 2016 Popular Post Report Posted October 21, 2016 A busy week in the shop which was a nice change. Got a lot of work done and still a lot to work on. I got the moulding cut and installed on the Poplar plant stand for the customer and they approved this is what they wanted. So now for a final sanding and then Ebony Stain. More pictures as it gets closer to finish. Also got the Poplar frames cut out for the screen door and ready to cut mortise and tenons on them. I got started and have part of them cut but had to pull of to work on another order. Also got the Walnut Bistro table top cut to size so I need a final sanding on it and them a finish applied. This weekend it going to be mostly sanding and finishing. Also glued up blanks to cut out 36 cheese boards to finish on order and start on another one. Only so much room to stand them around while glue tries. But I got them cut into boards, so now they get a final sanding and them oil applied. Pretty much been my week and as I said the weekend will be mostly sanding and finishing. I do have a gun shop to go to on Saturday for a little while but then it will be back to the shop and back to work. Hope you all have a great weekend and get to spend some time in your shop, We here at TPW love to see and hear about all the projects you are working on so share with us your weekend agenda. Weather it be woodworking or whatever we love to hear what you are doing. I can hear that ROS calling my name so I am off to sand! Grandpadave52, Chips N Dust, Dadio and 5 others 8 Quote
Chips N Dust Posted October 21, 2016 Report Posted October 21, 2016 I will be mainly hunting this weekend, but I am going to try to sneak out to the shop for a while tonight and also see if I can get some more time out there on Saturday and Sunday. Gene Howe Posted October 21, 2016 Report Posted October 21, 2016 John, you get more done in a week than most get done in a month. When do you sleep? I'll be working on a blog and cutting and sanding corbels this weekend. Monday, it's another day of assembly. Tuesday is haircut day. 50 miles to the barber. Then shopping with the wife. Maybe some Thai for lunch. Friday we head to Tucson for the UA homecoming game on Saturday. Stick486, Grandpadave52, John Moody and 1 other 4 Quote

Thanks Gene, I just try to stay busy during the day and in the evenings if we feel like it, my wife comes out to the shop to help. She enjoys working in the shop as much as I do so we do pretty good together. Sometimes it feels like Chip and Joanna Gains from Fixer Up. She is the design manager and I am in charge of demo day! lew Posted October 21, 2016 Report Posted October 21, 2016 Love that walnut table top! I do think you may need a few more clamps!! Grandpadave52, John Moody and HandyDan 3 Quote
Ron Dudelston Posted October 21, 2016 Report Posted October 21, 2016 John Moody, aren't you missing ONE picture? I'm idle this weekend. I'm on the county election board and I'm going to spend the weekend resting. If I were a heavy drinker I'd find a bottle of tequila and not stop until I found the worm at the bottom. HandyDan Posted October 22, 2016 Report Posted October 22, 2016 It was a nice weather week and I got the last of the outside work done. I even washed the mold off the vinyl siding on the north side of the house. Was just going to let it wait until next summer. No time in the shop but it is supposed to be a rainy weekend so I will be there. Quote
DuckSoup Posted October 22, 2016 Report Posted October 22, 2016 (edited) Spent some time Friday in the shop cutting some wood to create a tumbling block lid for a keepsake box. I'm no E.Smith but I have a whole new outlook on what he goes through to make his look so good. Edited October 22, 2016 by DuckSoup John Moody and HandyDan 2 Quote
Grandpadave52 Posted October 22, 2016 Report Posted October 22, 2016 Whew John...you've been busy this week...Enjoyed seeing and reading of all the projects you've got going. If I was 1000 miles closer, I'd get a sweet tea and watch you sand! Yesterday went with daughter/SIL, 2/4 grand-kids to meet their realtor & "inspect" a house/property they had looked at earlier in the week. Couple of hours on site, lunch at McD's, a lot of talking, I came home with grand-kids, they met more with realtor later in PM...offer placed on house. Praying this works out for everyone! Youngest grand-daughter & I are headed out after bit to to peruse the flea market, small towns along pathway of Covered Bridge Festival...it ends tomorrow PM...hopefully some "deals" to be had after rotten weather the last 4 days. If time remains later today back to mowing. Don't like to but will have to mow tomorrow after church too. Probably not much shop time to be had this weekend. John Moody and HandyDan 2 Quote
Nickp Posted October 22, 2016 Report Posted October 22, 2016 First...you don't have enough clamps... Second...I thought the question was about Friday...not the month...Cheez, John...that's more than enough work for a weekend... ...don't wanna be hearing how tired you are on Monday...okay...? Nickp Posted October 22, 2016 Report Posted October 22, 2016 Started tearing a pool deck down...about a 26x16...railing is down, deck boards next, seal the tops of the joists (they're still good) and then start layin' some 2x's. Railing will be vinyl lattice held in place between 4x's by 1x trim...boom...done... Existing 4x's need to be "relocated" to accommodate the lattice (evenly). I might need to put some support behind the lattice so some numbnuts doesn't poke themselves through the lattice. I think code calls for a certain amount of holding power to stop a charging bull from a running start 6 feet away...or something like that... Everyone have a great weekend... Quote
Gerald Posted October 24, 2016 Report Posted October 24, 2016 Has not been my weekend to complete anything much. Worked half of Friday then got some shop time to finish a collapsible web cam extension for the turning club. Rough turned a bowl in pecan on Saturday and cut a few low limbs in the yard. Oh by the way love the walnut table. Quote
Chips N Dust Posted October 24, 2016 Report Posted October 24, 2016 I did not get into the shop this weekend either. Hunting took most of the time during the weekend and on Friday afternoon, I went to a retirement BBQ for a long time colleague from another company. I had a couple of beers there so no shop time Friday night (my self-imposed rule - no alcohol before shop time). Quote

Popular Post kmealy Posted October 25, 2016 Popular Post Report Posted October 25, 2016 Had company over the weekend but managed to get a lectern done for church. It's just built to the architect's specs and will match an altar table. I'd prefer a less clunky design, but whatever. Also made an indoor sandbox for a woman my wife volunteers with . Will be for her grandson's Christmas present Also got started on a replacement kitchen drawer box to replace one that's seen better days. And of course we had chocolate chip cookies and cinnamon rolls for the guests Harry Brink, HARO50, Chips N Dust and 3 others 6 Quote
Dadio Posted October 25, 2016 Report Posted October 25, 2016 (edited) OH my Gawd, homemade cinnamon rolls, one of my alltime favorites. Good job on the lectern Herb Edited October 25, 2016 by Dadio Quote
