October 18, 20169 yr Little Elm Bowl from a tree fall. There are lots of larger pieces in this tree. This was just the hunk I walked out and picked up. It's a little bowl with knots that seem to dislike me. It's still green and rough but I'm thinking I may leave it this and finish is in this shape. What to do with that cracked knot? I can't turn it out because there's another know underneath it.
October 18, 20169 yr Looks like you got it pretty thin. The knot will probably crack a little more- maybe some CA. I like the shape.
October 19, 20169 yr Author I CA'd the knots. I have some autobody glitter for Paint. I think I'll mix some with epoxy and fill the hole. Or I could just leave it natural.
October 19, 20169 yr Looks nice, might be Red Elm. You say it is still wet. My guess it will crack in a few more places by the time it is dry so it will be best to let it do what it wants.

October 19, 20169 yr Knot looks like it will be a bad crack. You could drill the center and put in colored epoxy. Since you have a lot more of the same wood I would suggest scrap it and do another. Unless you want an art piece , and yes I have done plenty, it is not worth the time it will take.
October 19, 20169 yr Author Oh look another. and FINALLY I got to put my hollower that I built along with the FRANKEN HOLLLOWER system to some inappropriate use. Inappropriate because the bowl is really way too small for the thing. But still any day in the shop is a good day.
