Ever Buy a Piece of Wood and?

Featured Replies

Along the same lines of @Allen Worshamtopic whether or not you forgot what parts you cut out or didn't, have you ever bought a piece of wood a few months before, come upon it, and forget why you bought it?

Here in my shop today, I purchased this 6/4 walnut about 6 weeks ago, and for the life of me, I can't remember why! I don't buy walnut unless I need it, I can't remember why I need it.

I bought it at the same time I bought the 8/4 ash below it for my chair jigs. You'd think I could put the two events together right?

By the way, shop dog Jessie got in the pic. She's a shelter rescue dog, a pure sweet heart.

Shop pup looks like she wants some love!

I have never bought wood that I didn't remember what for. That said, There have been plenty of times I bought wood and it went for something completely different than originally intended. LOL

I often get offered a piece of wood- or a bunch- in trade for computer work. Then later I'll go to the lumber mill and buy the same stuff for a project- completely forgetting to check the wood shed for what I already have.

LOL I have done similar things, I will buy a piece of wood knowing I already have some, but just not sure where, and too lazy to look for it lol.

Wow, 6/4. That's a bunch of BF.  That kind of outlay of funds would certainly jog my memory.

Maybe ask Jesse. She looks like a smart dog with a good memory.

Ya! You'd think I got money to burn right! Quite the opposite I assure you. Single income family, kid in college, two more on their way, and I can't remember where this walnut was supposed to go!

She always looks like that Charles, about the most spoiled dog we ever had. Kids won't leave her alone!

Ahh just send it to me, I'll take good care of it for you. LOL

Your memory lapses are forgiven. With three offspring soon to be in college, it's no wonder some things fall through the cracks. That was a decent sized crack, though.:D

Does the Grand Canyon ring a bell?

Sometimes I walk around in a fog, and I don't even know till someone talks to me.

I'm trying Dab, I'm trying man!

For me, it more likely I'll buy wood for something special and then not be able to find it. Sometimes, I'll learn later I used in it something else. But to your question, I have bought some and not remember what it was for....there's no end to the things i can forget!

looks like enough wood for a nice little side table, or really fancy tool box.

John, that's got way too much sap wood showing. Let me do you the favor of taking it off your hands.

Once it's gone, you can quit worrying about "what might have been.":D

John, I am a novice wood worker. I don't know what 8/4 refers to.
