DPMS makes a nice AR! I am sure you will be happy with it.

I'm sure I'll have to trick it out a bit more.

After I bring my wife off the ceiling.

Finished up some bun feet replacements today. Got started on Christmas ornaments today. First ones I will be trying angels out of fresh crepe myrtle. Turned a prototype today and will see if it survived tomorrow. This is pretty thin turning so the concerne will be the head and the piece was just large enough. Maybe pith will not be a problem.

I have a pretty busy weekend. Repainting the kitchen and cutting grass tomorrow but I do plan to make some time in the shop to finish up a couple projects. First I am going to finish up a step stool for my son. He saw a picture of it and had to have it. Many of you have probably seen it, it is stool that turns into a chair by lifting the front step. I believe it is a popular woodworking plan but I upsized it for my son. Still have to do a little sanding and then add the front steps before finishing. He wanted it made out of hickory and I am pretty pleased with how it is turning out.image.jpeg

After i I finish that I plan to put a torsion box top on my workbench. Noticed I had a bow in it so need to get rid of that. Then I will trim it out in white oak.

Also gonna start milling some more rough oak for a hanging tool cabinet I plan to build over the next couple of weeks. Should be a great weekend.

That's a neat idea, Trey. Nice work, too. Haven't worked with hickory. Kinda hard to find in these parts. But, it's sure good looking wood.

Back in IL, my dad used it for firewood. But then, he burned everything. Cherry, maple, walnut... what ever grew on the farm. Needless to say, he wasn't a woodworker.

Great Job! Enjoy :D:)

got the last of the old tiles removed from the shower.  now to run the water lines to the correct locations.  then re-insulate the exterior walls.  widen the doorway to the shower.  move light and fan switches.  replace ceiling light and maybe the fan.  put up new concrete board.  water proof everything.  then put up new wall and floor tiles, and install new shower door and new shower controller and shower head.

this may take more than 2 days......

Thanks. I was talking to a buddy at work the other day and he told me he had just copped up a massive cherry tree into fire wood. It was hard to restrain myself!

I like the look of hickory if it is not too sappy. I bout this particular board because it was mostly heartwood. Plan to make me a few mallet handles out of offcuts. This was a 12 inch wide board I initially so I did some rough milling with a no. 5 and it wasn't terrible to work but it is hard. I did have some trouble with chipping while using the router and jigsaw. My $30 jigsaw had a hard time making a couple of the cuts but that isn't too surprising because it is way underpowered.

Nice job Trey! I know he is going to enjoy it. I love the color in Hickory. I have about 1000 b/f of it drying in the barn. Some of it i had cut into 3" slabs that are 12' long.

Look forward to seeing this project come along.

Lookin good, Moody.

For me, it's going over the inventory and making a list of what all I still need to do before next weekend.  In the next 45 days, Judy and I are squeezing in 3 heavy duty shows and getting the cataracks out of two eyes.  Hmmmmm getting the eyes completely done just in tmie for the season to end????  I might have to see about getting into more shows - inventory permitting.
