show me your DC at the lathe

I'm at that point where I'm ready to start that final opening at the lathe for DC.  What do you have  why  -- do you like it  what would you do  different?

Got pix?

As posted in your previous question, I need to complete a shroud type device to make sanding dust collection more efficient. It will need to be mounted with a fully articulated arm. I can't think of anything that will suck up the shavings/chips during the actual turning process. This would be especially true of green wood turning.

Years ago, I attended a woodworking club meeting (Mason Dixon Wood Workers). One of the members had a neat roughing gouge made from a pipe (about 2" in diameter and about 18" long). The "business end" was ground to a cutting angle completely around the circumference of the pipe. The other end was attached to the dust collection system via a flexible hose. It did a pretty good job of collecting the shavings/chip during  his demonstration.

I just use the 4" opening on my DC hook up. It's actually pretty effective as I can position it very close to where I'm sanding. The most elaborate setup I've seen is by Robo Hippy, a guy who posts on the AAW forum as well as woodnet. He has a video of the dust hood he uses.
