Identifier for submitted tips... (In Progress)

Featured Replies

make available a unique icon to be placed in front of the title to identify it as a tip...

mimic the featured star only but use say a bold T instead of the star...

use it in any forum for applicable tips pertaining to that forum... no need to create a special forum...

Thanks Stick, give me a little time and I think we may actually be able to work something out on this one. It's a splendid idea.

Still researching this topic, thank you for your patience!

no problem...

thanks for the look see...

Good idea stick. Maybe the tips threads could be organized in a searchable repository sorted by area...finishing, jigs, ..etc.

Stick - the only way I know of, right now, that you can get threads on tips is the following:

Move mouse over "Activity", choose "Search", type in "tips and tricks" and then "Search"

This will give you a listing of the "Scrollsaw Tips and Tricks" threads that we have been working on.

Great idea to have the ability to choose an icon as a header for a posting.  Seen that on other boards.

You could also "tag" your topic with the tag "tip".

A sort-able repository is something I have been thinking of for all of Sticks wonderful tips, and others! My mind is moving on this guys, among the other suggestions, we'll get something going. But, any additional ideas on how to achieve a good tips director is most welcome.

How in your mind should it look @Stick486? I am going to turn the questions around on you, and you tell us how you would like to see the Tips Directory?

Remember, this is your forum! :)

keep it simple...

a bold white ''T'' in a round green field...

somebuddy is seeking help.. make it an ''H''..

for a question.. of course, a question mark..

GP material/product information.. an ''I''....

after a while if enough tips/tricks show up start a library set up on the order of a documents briefcase..

Doing that in Scrollsaw forum - could not find a search specifically for tags - help on this, puleeze

Thanks, john, super sire

OOOOPPPPPSSSSSS

Tried it - "tips" - gives a result of any and all threads that have the letters "tips" in any word or phase.  In order to get to the scrollsaw tips and tricks, the entire phrase hase to be put into the search criteria.

Just a clarification super sire

You have a do a search by "tags" Fred.

Click on "More Search Options"

Default is "Search by Tags"

Type in the tag "tip"

Then click on the "Search" button at the lower right.

Gotcha - thank you, sire - - - - that's what I get for not reading the "wiki" regarding the new application.  ;)

"wiki"

Wiki? Ok now you got me confused Fred!

Yeh, I thought you were working on installing the WIKI for us.  It is a tab on top.  A topic in there could be all these hints and tricks that are floating around on how to use the forums.

Got it! My thick head in the way again Fred!

I think all tutorials will stay in the tutorial forum.

No forum related issues will be in the wiki.

The wiki is a knowledge base for Woodworkers by Woodworkers. You all will be able to contribute research projects, and openly edit each other's projects to improve and expand.

Thanks Fred!

Did you figure out the search by tag feature it?
