August 22, 20169 yr Not sure if it's an original idea or not. Basically a prototype, wasn't sure it was going to work the way I wanted it to. You can see, it has no finish on it. You can see, it's not my best work. However it does work as I intended and it works well. Figure it will help save me about 30 bucks a month. It is a kitchen item but not a mortar and pestle. Care to guess what it's for? Steve

August 22, 20169 yr Maybe a packer for a Krupts single use machine. I'd go thru more than $30 worth a month, however!
August 22, 20169 yr Author Lew, you are all around it. We have a keurig and while we like it, it is expensive to use. Kcups are right at 65 cents apiece now. Two coffee drinkers, two cups a day is about 80 bucks a month to drink coffee at home. We bought one of the refillable kcup plastic things but weren't happy with it. The water flows through it so fast the coffee doesn't really get a chance to brew, that, and cleaning it up was a chore. Wife figured out lining the holder with a paper towel solved both those issues but the paper tends to tear easily, especially if it's wet. So, I made this little "filter former". It forms the paper towel with no chance of it getting wet so tearing isn't a problem. If my math is right, takes the cost from 65 cents to about 14 cents for a up of coffee. Steve
August 23, 20169 yr Cool! Along those same lines but completely different- I made a somewhat similar device to create newspaper planting pots.
August 24, 20169 yr I love it. I would love to have one big enough to hold misc. pieces for my scrap pieces I use to make wedges for razor re-scales.
