And waiting on a rain-free day around here.    That way, I can apply the coat of Witch's Brew to this thing...

Test Ride is complete.....Rocker has too much lean back, creaks a bit.  Compfy to sit it, though.  Maybe get better results if and when I ever do a second one of these....

It creaks a bit? I thought that was a feature that identified a good, heirloom quality chair. Awesome to see the chair make it's way out of the shop!

That creaking is built in audio relaxer (no batteries required)!

Audio Relaxer! I love that one!

Just like an audio track of soothing sounds of nature, rainfall or ocean waves, you could sell soothing audio track of creaking rocking chair!

Well, it seems a certain pup named Max decided to try to chew on one of the rocker ends

Even Anna is giving him a dirty look.....decided to haul the rocker outside to the back porch, and apply a coat of Witch's Brew......Rocker is now sitting in the Gazebo, to keep other things away from it, until the first coat dries.    BLO STINKS!    You can almost smell it half a block away....and, withut further ado...

I like the "new guy" best!

Amen to what Lew said, your edition has class and character Steve! Great project and thank so much for letting us follow along. This was fun.

Hey Steve, are going to top coat the chair with any other type of finish?

Might be a spray Spar Varnish?   There is a LOT of nooks & crannies  to cover, almost too much for using a brush..

My very humble opinion on this subject Steve, perhaps with a ton of nooks and crannies, the brush is what I would use. Spray may miss the crevices and such. How about brush on a 3 part mix of varnish, oil, and spirits, let set for 15 minutes, then wipe down, repeat two or three more times and you got a run free finish with a protective coating as well. I am biased though, I hate spraying anything, I'll wipe on when I can. Again, IMHO.

Does it sleep well?

Im with Todd on the creaking. All the wonderful old rockers I sat in creaked. I loved hearing that sound as I rocked back on forth on the porch. Would almost put you to sleep.  The porch swing was the same way.

From the above comments, they remind me of a saying I heard years ago:  "Sometimes I sits and think - other times I just sits."

I'm sure that rocker (with included sound effects) will be well used.

nice rocker
