November 4, 201510 yr brought a 1x6x8' pine plank to the Dungeon Shop tonight. laid out a few angled cuts. "Plan" (as IF I use such a thing) is a 5 degree angled cut. Two sides are about 30" or so along the "short" length. two ends are about 8-1/2" along their bottoms. Handsaws wear me out, so I used a circular saw to make the cuts. Stacked the two ends together, we have plane work to do.. A jack plane to joint these edges, The I flip the set over and do the other edges, without any slippage. Then I clamp the set into the leg vise, to plane the mitered ends. Used the jack to get it almost done then a smaller one was used... The F clamp is to keep things from rotating over. I got this end done, CAREFULLY flipped it end for end. And the other end of the shorter piecs are done. Time for the longer sides? same routine, just the plane got a wee bit longer. Stanley No.7c.....makes some nice shavings, too Nice? Got the edges done, then the ends were cleaned up. Then a layout on the ends, to get ready for a little bit of handsaw work.. Hoping I can cut a few dovetails. Corner joint will look like this, I hope... Then, if they all go together, I can cobble a bottom for it, and a carrying handle, ala Underhill. There MIGHT be a slotted piece to hold a few chisels, too Stay tuned, I might get to cussing, yet....
November 4, 201510 yr Plans?, Plans? We don't need no stinking plans. Directions? Aren't those the things you're supposed to throw away?
