Has anyone had any experience with crazy glue and soda for a decorative turned piece? I have been thinking about using some for fun. Can you add any coloring to it?

yes please elaborate as my curiosity is now piqued

I have heard that if you put baking soda in a hole and add crazy glue, it becomes VERY hard quickly and will fill voids or holes with a white solid that can be turned. I did try it, but my results wasn't great. I was hoping to get some tips

I found some utube videos on it but haven't looked at them yet

This is my effort. I drilled a hole on each side and filled with soda and super glue. It wasn't bad, but I'd like to make it better

Thanks, Ron. One place I read that the baking soda also acts like an accelerant for hardening.

It sure did harden quickly

what's the effect you are going for here.

Try mixing an alcohol soluable dye with the soda to color it  let dry overnight and try that with the glue?

Baking soda acts as an accelerator by virtue of all the surface area.  Sawdust does the same thing just not always as aggressively.

Most of the commercial accelerators have some combination of the following

Aliphatic Petroleum

Alkyl Toluidines

Xylene

Ethylbenzene

Acetone

Naptha

 Toluidine

Quinone

I don't know what the chemistry is going on with them.

I know water also acts as an accelerator  and so was a warm moist breath.
