After remodeling the primary bathroom earlier this year, our youngest son announced his wedding engagement.  We are anticipating many out-of-town quests in our home, so remodeling the hall bathroom moved to the top of the list.  The hallway bath vanity was constructed similar to the primary bathroom vanity.

My wife teaches preschool at our community elementary school, the principal asked her if I could make a hanger for the crossing guard vests. She said he just wanted a board with some dowels to hang the vests on. I said I’d make one but it isn’t just going to be a board with some dowels sticking out if it.

I've got a request for a coffee table that can raise or lower from 14" high to 18" high. 
I've got the geometry figured out, but before committing to the final material I like to verify that details will work.
This is my test for a pivot bracket that'll be under the table top and let a leg frame pivot. 

Ya know, I just happened on this, and I thought it was really neat! I got no skin in the game, not promoting Woodsmith, but it's pretty danged cool.

Introduction I'm making my son his first chess board for his birthday. In fact, it's my first time making one. I wanted him to have a decent one to use. Hopefully he’ll like it. For many of you who have made chess boards this writeup may be "old hat" but nonetheless I wanted to share just the same as I go.  Step 1  I started by cutting up eight 2-5/16" wide x 20" long pieces on the table saw. Four out of Cedar and four out of Pine. I then used one of my shooting boards and hand planed each side edge of the 2 - 5/16 wide lengths down to 2 - 1/4".     Step 2 Then I setup up in the clamps for the first glue up. Alternating back and forth with the Cedar and Pine lengths... one Cedar.. one Pine... then Cedar, etc.   Now...I have to let the glue dry overnight. Lol.     Stay tuned ....   MrRick

I was reflecting on my woodworking projects and they seem to fall into three categories - home related (furniture, storage, organization), gifts (frames, boxes, trivets), and dog stuff. This last category combines two of my loves - woodworking and dogs. A win win. What is a Kerfmaker?

The Kerfmaker is a tool that simplifies the process of making accurately sized grooves, dados and half-lap joints. Even half-lap joints that are not at a 90° angle are very easy to make with this tool. Once it is adjusted for the cutter and stock width, it is used as a spacer against a fixed stop to accurately cut both sides of the groove. It’s perfect for cutting dados for sheet goods, which often vary in thickness, as well as box and drawer making, and half-lap joints.
It is perfect for: Frame work, box makers, carcass work, drawer making and the list goes on and on. It is a tool that once used, you will never want to lose.

This fun project was my first rocking chair, I am hooked on chairs after this experience.
