Twenty two years ago today everything in America changed. Our comfort was high and our guard was down and 2977 Americans paid the price. We talk about the price of freedom but too often our elected leaders treat this as a talking point instead of a reality. On that day the cost of freedom became real and we all felt the pain. I fear as time passes we will drift back into the arms of comfort and hope our enemies will never again be so successful. We say we will never forget but the culture in America today would have our history books minimize the story of 9-11 as not to offend our enemies. Our culture in America today would have our military trimmed down in an effort to avoid offending the global community. We speak of diplomatic efforts to manage peace with our enemies while they build power to grow advantage , spy on our country, buy up our important real estate. Defending the American rights we all enjoy from our constitution is under attack from within our own country with terms like racism and supremacy to separate us from ourselves. We say we will never forget and some of us never will. We remember exactly where we were on 9-11. But I fear the unity and single mindedness we all held days after 9-11 is gone today. For the first time in 22 years an American president will not remember 9-11 by paying a visit to one of the historic sites where so many Americans died at the will and determination of our enemies. I fear we will not always remember , slip into the calling arms of our American comfort and complacency while our enemies build strength and make plans for our future . calabrese55

Thank you for helping Canada's ill and injured military members The Argyll Regimental Foundation and True Patriot Love Foundation announce the creation of a Marcus Cirillo Trust Dear Friends of True Patriot Love, The calm of Canadian public life has been shattered this past week by the tragic deaths of two members of the Canadian Armed Forces: Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent and Corporal Nathan Cirillo. The latter’s death occurred while mounting silent, respectful, and unarmed vigil at the Canadian War Memorial and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Canadians of all ages and walks of life have expressed their collective sadness and their profound shock at these horrific events. The decency of ordinary Canadians has been expressed in concern for the families of these two soldiers and, in particular, Corporal Cirillo’s young son, Marcus. In the digital age, gestures of support are oft expressed by “clicks or likesâ€. Looking to move beyond that, a group of concerned citizens launched the Stand on Guard Fund to raise money in support of the families of Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent and Corporal Nathan Cirillo. “The outpouring of grief and emotion online should be turned into real action to honour their memory,†said Kasra Nejatian, who co-founded the project late this past Wednesday. The Stand on Guard Fund is working with True Patriot Love to disburse all monies raised between the families equally. As Shaun Francis, Chair of True Patriot Love, eloquently expressed, “Grassroots movements like the Stand on Guard Fund are the truest demonstrations of our nation standing together in their support for the members of our Canadian Armed Forces and their families.†Announcement – the Marcus Cirillo Trust It is with great pride that the family of Corporal Nathan Cirillo, the Argyll Regimental Foundation on behalf of The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada, and True Patriot Love are announcing the creation of a special trust for Corporal Cirillo’s son – the Marcus Cirillo Trust. Every dollar raised by the Argyll Regimental Foundation and by the Regiment will go directly to the Marcus Cirillo Trust, while the monies raised by the Stand on Guard Fund will be divided equally between the families. The TD Bank has generously set up a trust account for Marcus so that individuals anywhere in Canada may also make a direct contribution at their local bank (TD Bank, Transit # 2221, Account #6391935). Kathy Cirillo, Nathan’s mother and Marcus’ grandmother, is overwhelmed by the compassion, the concern, and the condolences for her son and her grandson. She has expressed her abiding thanks to all Canadians for their thoughts, their prayers, and this generous act of lasting remembrance. The team at True Patriot Love thanks you for your continued support and commitment to our military families. Copyright © 2014 True Patriot Love Foundation, All rights reserved.
