Well, this was new to me- an "Appetizer Board". Apparently you load it up with finger food and place it in the middle of a table so party guests can serve themselves. Made from maple, walnut and cherry. Breadboard ends pinned with poplar dowels. 14" wide x 48" long x 5/8" thick. Finger holds in each end to facilitate lifting. Small rubber feet at the corners. Finished with mineral oil and beeswax. Hope the recipients send me a photo of it in use!

Twas a time, long ago..... Right before the annual 2 week drunk, er, training....I was walking out the tracks to check for any new rail cars where I was working.....scared off a hobo...he left behind a "Squad Stove" The kind they used to issue to a squad to heat their C-rats on. Fill it with Mo-gas, pump it up, and cook a meal, or coffee.... So....I swiped an empty #10 can from the mess section. Commo pliers to make a spout, punch two holes for a commo wire handle......instant coffee pot. Grabbed all the MRE coffee packets the squad had on hand ( 12+!!) tossed those into the can full of water. Set the stove up, and bring it to a boil...... First "batch" was a wee bit STRONG......it was either dissolving the plastic spoons, or they were standing up straight in the canteen cup. In the middle, mind you. later was able to guesstimate the batch a little better......still wound up with "SGT. COFFEE" on my helmet cover...... Later, managed to slip by the Class VI store...needed something for "Half & Half" of course...
