Check out the materials he uses for the stigma and stamen! @Gerald's hollow form reminded me of this one turned by Carl Jacobson- New Turning Items- This item has been available from Woodturners Wonders for awhile. Mike shows how to set it up and runs it through its paces. Also from Woodturners Wonders, a sale on Yellowhammer HSS turning tools https://woodturnerswonders.com/collections/yellowhammer?_kx=gV5SF2As_3IwtBi5TrpHVQM0F3UvGVbQKzhWGippDlk.VJvU8R Everything Else- Trying to use up those little pieces of wind shake cherry by making tiny vases for Mimi. I tried pure beeswax on these an buffed them with an old T-shirt but they feel sticky. I think I will burnish them with shavings, again, and see what they look like. I have some Hampshire Sheen wax that might be better. My predicament now is how to reverse chuck them, to finish the bottoms. The entry holes are not identical in diameter. Thinking on making an expandable piece to fit into the holes The piece will need to be adjustable to take care of the minor variations in diameter. Safe turning
  2. Went in the store with the thoughts of getting a back up flex shaft for the old dremel I use almost every day. The clerk took me to the dremel display and pointed to the shaft which had a price of 31.98. He asked if I also needed the grinder also. No , mine is good. He says for less than twice as much as the flex cable is you can get the whole set for 59.00. Actually we went in the store to buy an up right deep freeze. Then after getting the deep freeze thingy squared away went to look at the individual dremel pieces. The bits in the sets are in my opinion just junk but I could sure use an extra dremel hanging next to the one I use all the time with a different bit....This is a good buy for the set for just the grinder is 59 right now. I know lot of you would not want these in your tools. Thats okay. Oh for your info if you have a flex shaft on yours , using some wheel bearing grease pull the cable all the way out and coat the shaft with the grease, not a lot, just be sure to put some all the way down. Then drop three or four drop of 30 weight motor oil in the top of the housing and slide the cable back and forth a few times before screwing the shaft back on the tool....if you put any more than three or four drops on the entire shaft, thats too much and might leak on to your hand when running the tool. My shaft is 20 years old and still working but has started to vibrate in the middle of the shaft when on... comparing to my Foredom grinder, the shaft wore out in about three years.....I forgot anything that turns needs some kind of lube. Now just because I been around car mechanics most of my life and done a lot of it myself I should have known better.....
