A friend told me he had something I might be interested in, and I could have it. The forward handle was missing, and the heavy grease that had been applied to the gears made it impossible to turn the crank, but it cleaned up nicely. Even had a handle from something that fits (plastic, but will do for now). "Aurowa", made in Germany. Later I stopped in at a local "antique" barn. Lots of rusty, broken-down old braces and drills for ridiculous prices, but I did find this! Apparently made by Millers Falls! 10" throw. Rock solid, everything works, and only needed the dust wiped off it! $22.! Could have had a rusty, non-useable one to hang over the fireplace for ONLY four or five TIMES that amount! Go figure. One other "tool" caught my eye. We had one in the house when I was a kid, and it functioned so well that I just HAD to get it! Labelled as an "Old Crimper"! These people don't even recognize a nutcracker when they see one? John

Picked this up on the weekend. The small decal on the gear says "British Made", and there is a "22" on the casting just behind the chuck. No other identifying marks. Anybody have any idea who would have made this? John

Bought this at the local resale for 3 bucks. It had ugly rubbery green paint with nicely brown painted rosewood handles. I stripped all of that and did a complete disassemble, clean, and grease of all parts. The crank handle had a crack that I welded and re-ground. My final paint scheme of Oliver tractor green and black may not be a correct original but I like the way it turned out. I have a little green residue to clean from the gear teeth to call this one done. Does anyone happen to have a similar parts drill that would have a protective cover for the level glass? It is unfortunately AWOL!
