The butterfly is made from baltic birch and finished with Clear Spray Lacquer. The base is made from Bubinga and finished with Natural Danish Oil. The Butterfly is not glued into the base for ease of transport.

Thanks,  I went back and forth on how to finish it.  Whether to use paint or stain or leave it natural and use the lacquer which I eventually did do.  If I would do it again I would a different wood for the butterfly.  I was not happy with the baltic birth when it was finished and the difficulty in sanding interior spots without it breaking.  I got a lot of compliments on it at the show from other members of the Woodworkers group.  They have given me a lot of confidence over the last year.
