Friday, January 25th, What's on Your Woodworking Agenda?

Featured Replies

Well it has been a long week but my wonderful wife and I spent the day together just doing nothing. We were both of the opinion that we didn't want to make any decisions today. That made it tough to decide where to eat lunch. LOL.

Anyway, I got a couple of nice packages on the door step this week. I got this really cool sander from Gene. This is a big boy sander. A 4 x 24" sander weighing in a 15 lbs. I will be working out this weekend so I can hold on to this baby. Talking about eating some wood this should really do the job.

I also got in one of my Christmas presents that has been on back order. Thankfully WoodCraft got it in and shipped it to me. A new WoodPecker Drill press table. Looking forward to getting some of this put together this weekend.

So these are a few of the projects that I will be working on this weekend, so what about you?

What are your woodworking plans for this weekend, will you be working in the shop, home improvement, shivering, HDL or just plan old R&R? You know we at TPW always want to know what you are working on. We love to see those projects and we love pictures so please tell us what you doing and show us some pics.

Inquiring minds want to see those projects on your bench.

By the way, I know I am little late on Friday posting this, but I did make it. Now let's get those projects listed.

Well John looks like you have your work cut out for you again.

I will be making a needle case for a customer, then making all the pen kits I have available. That will more than cover the weekend.

Have fun all and enjoy your weekend, and above all, be safe.

Think I'll finally get those CrushGrind salt and pepper grinders together. The last application of poly is drying now.

Got a shipment of bottle stoppers from Ruth Niles, yesterday. There are some of the Spalted Maple scraps left from the platter (waiting to be sanded). Thought they might make some interesting tops.

I have a small dovetailed box with a wooden hinge for the lid about done. I'll post a picture when it's done. It was kind of fun making the hinge. Next up is a tv stand out of red oak.

That sounds interesting Lew. Hey, you got any flat plain maple that's thin? I was going to mix it with the Black walnut or walnut you gave me for a couple of grinders too.

If not, no worries. I do wish sometimes that I had the ability to rip boards, I have flat boards here but no way to rip them.

Here's what I'm working on. ning-sb-lg-planslrg-18003-74.jpg?width=7Undoubtedly the most unnecessarily complicated build I've ever done.

I've got the base carcass done and  most of the solid wood pieces cut. this weekend will be all taken up with trim and interior pieces for the base.

I've found several mistakes in the cutting list.....FRUSTRATING!!!!!

This is what my son wanted. I hope his twin doesn't see it and want one, also.

Frustrating, especially if Feinstein has her way, you won't have anything to put in it.

No worries, Lew.

We have enough to fill several cabinets.

Then there's the "cold, dead fingers" thing.

John, Happy that beast arrived safe and sound. Builds upper body strength, for sure.

As for Judy and I, we are still relaxing in Breax Bridge, LA.  Heading out tomorrow for a little town on the other side of Mobile, AL.

Planer? I'm the 'planer', and these are what I use...

I feel your pain with the cut list Gene.  About a year ago I was going to make a table from a populat magazine with the cut list and prints had 14 (yes 14) errors in them.  I built the tables but cancelled the magazine.

Look forward to seeing them Lew. Glad you mentioned the bottle stoppers, I have got to order some more from Ruth also. I really like the last ones I got there. I may have a little spalted maple out in the shop also. Great idea, thanks.
