January 27, 201412 yr Does anyone know where I can borrow, beg, steal or buy a pattern/plan for a turkey tail fan display plaque? I have been asked to build one which is a simple project but have no idea of the optimal size dimensions and the configuration. I have never seen a turkey tail mount and am unsure how the tail is mounted in the plaque. Thanks Don R
January 27, 201412 yr Whoa, Don. Now, that's a strange one. Any taxidermists close by? They might be able to give you some pointers.

January 29, 201412 yr That looks great, Don. Real nice design. Beautiful Burning, and I love the tracks. What does the piece behind the turkey look like? How are the feathers attached? Be sure to post some pictures when the feathers are in. There are lots of turkeys around here and they are taken regularly. But I've never seen a tail mount. Pretty unique.
January 29, 201412 yr Author Thanks Gene. I left a 1/4 inch space between the face piece and the backer using a 1/4 inch shim behind the bottom 2/3 or so of the face piece. The idea is to slip the tail quills between the two pieces so that the face piece hides the quills and the down. May have to hot glue the tail in place but I think the friction should hold it. Here are a few more pics to show what I am rambling about.. Don R
January 29, 201412 yr Don, Makes more sense than the way I envisioned...drilling a bunch of holes in the spacer.
