June 8Jun 8 A number of years ago, we bought a camper and I made some chairs that nested and easily carried for fireside sitting. We got rid of the camper last year so we gave them to a daughter that still family camps. I think the original plan was from Thompson's Water Seal and was for a duplex seat that I cut down to single. Here is a very similar plan for your summer/camping/patio enjoyment.19130_gsw_pspi_daytripper-chair_r2_112321 (1).pdf
June 9Jun 9 Made a bunch of those, from a different source, for friends years ago. Still have mine.A close friend, who is a civil war aficionado, said the design dates from that period. Not sure if it's true but did find this https://www.etsy.com/listing/1476039942/folding-chairreenactment-chair?gpla=1&gao=1&

I made mine out of red oak- big mistake- too heavy. Other than that problem I don't think it really matters. I made all of our deck furniture from eastern cedar. Most of the Adirondack furniture I've made from white pine.
June 9Jun 9 Thanks lew. Cedar or Redwood makes sense. They stand up good against the elements. Though I may try with Pine and coat with some Thompson sealer.

June 10Jun 10 Author I made mine from cedar from the Habitat for Humanity Restore. They were outside, but came in when we were not camping or in bad weather
