My Mom used to make cushions for chairs and rockers. Perhaps a local tailor/seamstress could create a custom one for you.

There used to be an upholstery shop here in town that took care of the community upholstery/cushion needs. My students often took advantage of him when their designs needed cushions or their chairs completely upholstered. Alas, like many places here no one took over when he finally retired. My insurance company has owned and resided in that building since then. As I mentioned previously I made the cushion for my original oak version and have re-covered it twice since then. I have a sewing machine and likely enough material on hand to make my own, but one goal of this cherry chair was to eliminate the need to sew, Given that ready made cushions are out there I'm hoping I can find one that fits and looks good to complete it.

Cushion Arrived. Fits better than the 1st one I bought.

Sits well. Works as designed to work. May require a footrest should I want to nap in it.

Other than maybe one more coat of teak oil to the cherry this is the end of this project.

It will reside in a corner of my bedroom after I get a chance to clear out the corner.

Wow!

Decided I needed a foot rest to prop my aging legs on when sitting in this chair. Simple design. Canvas sling over 1" dowels limit how far the X frame open.

A cushion for it has been shipped from the Jungle store. No tracking info yet. Red fabric I hope is close to the fabric on the chair cushions. Memory foam core. Straps that will wrap over the dowels and buckle underneath. Teak oil finish eventually. I'll post another pic when the cushion arrives.

It appears that the cushion I ordered is on a slow boat from China and won't be here until late August. In any case the frame is done with two coats for teak oil on it.

Snaps up so the cushion (whenever it shows up) will cover them.

The secret is the foam under the fabric. Fabric on a coffee table is still hard without foam underneath. This I've learned with years of scientific research and testing. 😉
