May 4May 4 Popular Post Got a whole lot of nothing done over the weekend, not sure if I'll get anything done during the week.
May 4May 4 Popular Post Warming up nicely already so it's time to see if the rototiller will start. I did make a little process on a laminated bowl I'm trying to make, from an article in the AAW magazine. Needed to change the bandsaw blade and discovered the tires were covered with dust and chips from processing the crabapple and locust logs. Might have been quicker to change the tires but got them cleaned up and the resaw blade mounted. Looks like I need to replace the brush I mounted to sweep the lower wheel tire, as it spins.

May 4May 4 Author Popular Post @HandyDan , that feeling for me has taken some training to get too. After 5 months in on my retirement, I'm just now getting these random giggles after realizing I don't have to report in anymore. Seems to be a bit of a process and mind training to fully understand I'm really retired. As many here I started working as soon as I could at 15 yrs old partime, and unlike many here I moved to full time after dropping out of high-school after 10th grade, so I've effectively been working for 45 yrs, again like many here, I'm not special, we all have our story. But we all gotta admit, that's a long time. So how long does it take to rewire the brain for retirement after all that time of reporting in and punching a clock and dealing with a thousand different personalities? Some folks jump right in, it takes some longer. I talked to one retiree and he said it took about a year to fully rewire the mind, and after that it got better and better. I may be on that one year roll. I am just now starting to feel that I can take my time getting ready for the day. And it's nice.😊

When summer comes to an end, I still get nightmares about teaching and what I need to do when starting back into the classroom.

May 4May 4 Popular Post Got a bit done over the weekend or at least steps toward being done. Dug out more dirt under lean to to add gravel. Got a lot done on the medicine cabinet and mostly have the door to do now. Built a bridge from fence leftovers for a small creek where we hunt. Actually got an acre mowed this morning, gotta remember to wear dust mask. Edited May 4May 4 by Gerald
May 4May 4 Popular Post As stated last Friday, my weekend project was to restore/freshen up a wooden bench my daughter found. It had one broken foot and lots of scratches. I made two new feet for it, sanded the entire bench down to wood, smoothed out some sharp edges with a couple of router round over bits and restained it.My daughter has no use for it so she is going to try to sell it in a garage sale or online. I have no idea what something like that might be worth.Listening to all my fellow retirees I thought I would share an idea this old retiree had after I built my new scroll saw cart a couple of weeks ago. Once I had the cart put together on my sawhorse work table I found it was too heavy for this old man to move to the floor by himself. SO, I came up with the idea of building an easy to install and remove ramp off the work surface using some stuff I already had in the shop.I hammered out a piece of angle to just the right angle between the ramp and the table top, drilled a couple of 1/4" holes on the edge of the wood and insert a couple of fender bolts to hold it in place.I use a small chain hoist I used to use on my hunting lease to raise and lower objects up/down the ramp. This week I just have numerous doctor appointments and getting organized for a garage sale my daughter, granddaughter and I are having this coming weekend.Sorry for all the rambling but I'm retired.............what else do I have to do. 🤪
