March 15Mar 15 So my wife asked me about building a 26 ~ 28” round lazy Susan. I have some Cherry lumber that after milling should be around 3/4” thick. I have a 12” turntable device that should work well for the bottom. I’ll probably rout a 1/4” circle into the center to hold the turntable leaving it to stand proud about 3/8” or so. So my concerns are if the 12” turntable is large enough to keep it from dragging if the load isn’t balanced? Thanks for your input and thoughts.
March 15Mar 15 @DAB makes some as well as @Masonsailor . Maybe they will jump in here with their experiences.
March 15Mar 15 Popular Post So that's 7" max hanging over past the turntable. I just measured ours, it's 12" dia turntable, and the platter hangs over 9". We have all kinds of things on ours, heavy dishes, jars, containers, even a rock or two. Been good for the 12 years we've had it.
March 23Mar 23 Popular Post I apologize for coming late to the party on this one. It will work it but yes you will have to keep things balanced. If you are planning on putting heavy objects like canned goods it could be a problem. A plan might be to try it and if it becomes a problem get a larger one. Paul
March 23Mar 23 Popular Post our kitchen, which i built in 2012, has several large lazy susans in lower corner cabinets. 3/4" ply with edge banding, supported by 6 inch lazy susan hardware, and even with heavy things on them all this time (glass pie dishes, stone bread baking thing, ceramic lasagna pan....), they do not rub against the shelf they are mounted to. you'll be fine.edit, the lazy susans in question are about 28" diameter (fit in a 30 corner cabinet) with a pie slice cut out so the doors close.
