March 4Mar 4 Popular Post Klausz was one of the first people that tried to teach me dovetailing. The local club had him in for a weekend seminar. I was always frustrated because he emphasized speed and not accuracy. Even many years later, speed, speed, speed. Sellers did a much better job, IMO.

He looks at dovetails as a mechanical and necessary joint for strength more than he does beauty. Seems like his method was handed down from generation to generation, if so, it may be an unbroken chain from 17th and 16th century furniture makers, when the dovetail came into the furniture scene, it was nothing more than considered a strong joint, not to be ornamental or to display the skill, they were often times ugly compared to today's highly accurate obsession with the joint.

Sellers is the best to learn from with Cosman right behind him.
