I bought a Lee Valley scratchstock to make various beading on boxes, etc.But then I wanted a nice box to put it in for storage. So I made this one.I beaded it on top for a decorative feature and hand cut dovetailed corners all around. The hinges and snap catch are brass. The wood is Spalted Maple and some of the prettiest I've found. Everytime I reach for the box I look forward to using the scratchstock. Thanks for looking!Cheers!!MrRick Edited February 9Feb 9 by MrRick

February 9Feb 9 When doing Easy Wood Tools demos, I got to talk to lots of employees. I can see why retired wood workers have great tools!
February 9Feb 9 Author That's true. LV retail stores are mainly comprised of retired people. It's a good place to work.
February 10Feb 10 Funny how when we get a nice tool we have to make a box. I have some boxes but really like to use drawers with kaizan foam for the tools I use regularly. I thought that was enough for good storage but after the move I had one plane with a little rust, Guess I am just not using it enough. Nice box and by the way can you show us how to use the tool ? I am more used to beading planes that scratch stock.
February 12Feb 12 OHHH that looks like a lot of work. Guess I'll just stick to my lathe beading tools and the router.
