Agree lew. I do alot of dovetails and others as well. But always favor dovetails.

Great looking joints . I like that first one. I find dovetails interesting to make but I just do not make flatwork boxes anymore, Do boxes on the lathe. Howmuch longer does it take to do a joint like the first vs a plain joint?

Yes Traditional and it took an article in the Lee Valley magazine for me to figure it out. 

@Gerald It only took me about 15 maybe 20 minutes longer to cut these swallowtail dovetails over the standard dovetails. It's about 6 - 10 saw cuts more and minor chiseling cleanup. It's worth it. I know nothing of modern power equipment that enables this type of dovetail.
