December 27, 2025Dec 27 Popular Post After remodeling the primary bathroom earlier this year, our youngest son announced his wedding engagement. We are anticipating many out-of-town quests in our home, so remodeling the hall bathroom moved to the top of the list. The hallway bath vanity was constructed similar to the primary bathroom vanity. The case is made from ½” and ¾” thick UV birch plywood and the drawers from poplar wood. I used a vacuum press system to help adhere the shop made 1/8” thick veneer pieces to one side panel. My wife enjoys radical QSWO wood grain. Three boards were used for the drawer fronts to assure wood grain continuity. Each drawer has dovetail joinery and sized to go around the sink plumbing. The stiles allow for 1/8” subtle shadow lines. The drawers ride on Blum undermount slides. The finish schedule is Transtint medium brown dye, shellac, and SW Sher-Wood Kem Aqua plus clear. A double undermount quartz top will be added when the bathroom is under construction. I contracted myself to make any needed clearance cuts to the drawers to accommodate the plumbing. There are more woodworking items on the honey-do-list that need to be started/completed before the July wedding. Thanks for looking. Danl

December 28, 2025Dec 28 The cabinet looks great DanL. What are you using to cut the dovetails they are sharp?
December 28, 2025Dec 28 Author Thank you all for looking and for the kind comments. The dove tails are machine cut. For the tail machining, I use a 10-deg special grind TS blade and a simple TS sled which is attached to an Incra 1000HD miter gauge. I transfer the tail location to the pin boards with the aid of a 0.3 mm dia. mechanical pencil. For the pins, I use a flat-top blade and the same sled/Incra miter gauge. To clean out the waist between he pins, I use a ½” dia. trim router bit. Danl
