Popular Post Zack Posted December 13 Popular Post Report Posted December 13 My wife teaches preschool at our community elementary school, the principal asked her if I could make a hanger for the crossing guard vests. She said he just wanted a board with some dowels to hang the vests on. I said I’d make one but it isn’t just going to be a board with some dowels sticking out if it. The school is an old brick school house that just celebrated it’s 100th year. It’s been added on to over the years but the original part still retains all of the old woodwork. I wanted to make something that looked like it belonged there. Picked out a piece of red oak, squared it up and put a roman edge on it. Made up some half round moldings out of mahogany. Glued the moldings to the face for some contrast. I finished it with some natural stain and a couple coats of tung oil. I found the single hooks at an antique store, the double boxing octopus on the ends are new. Gerald, lew, Grandpadave52 and 8 others 9 2 Quote
