It's Fall!

First day of fall folks, Happy Fall!

One of my favorite times of the year, here in Southern California Fall is the suggestion that we may have cooler days ahead, may! The evenings are cooler, the AC can be turned off for the night, and soon the flannels will come out.

Have a wonderful first Fall day everyone!

Spent Saturday working on my son's car. Well he worked, I handed tools.

Smoked a pork butt on the smoker, turned out really good. Also disassembled and cleaned/lubed up my reloading presses. Sine one of them is about 60 years old i figured it was time. Otherwise not much accomplished.

Fixing to head out to the bench and build a set of winding sticks. My current ones were basically two pieces of ballister rail I trued up together. They have served for 8 years, but the bottom edges of one has a knot that popped loose, and I don't trust them anymore. Going to make a  nice hardwood set that should hopefully last til I cross over.

Well, I did say "Hi" to my lathe as I passed by to put laundry in the washer and dryer...

Hi Handfoolery... winding sticks are essential. I do alot of my woodworking using hand tools and find mine are essential.  Here's mine:

Got wood organized in shop over weekend. Today a friend helped me move the last tools out of shop to Ranch Shop. So glad that fun is done . Now for some outside jobs and inside packing.

Over the weekend finished the wheel barrow handle replacement project and a couple other small projects.

Week ahead, I suspect mowing will be on the agenda after 1.75" of rain over the weekend assuming of course we get some rain free days. Several other outdoor projects I need to get done also by the end of next weekend weather permitting. In between, maybe some puttering in the garage cleaning, reorganizing and possibly refurbing some tools.

Alex makes it look so easy. I've seen him do it in person a couple times during the old Woodworking Shows in Indianapolis; had the fortune to talk with him after his presentation programs. A really nice guy not to mention a bandsaw wizard.

I'm a dedicated hand tooler. Would not have it any other way. Those are lovely. Mine are much simpler. but will do the job I need them for.

For the record, only a fool would try to baptist a cat, lol. Even this old preacherboy knows better to mess with the Spawn of Satan.

Was slower than normal this week.  Rare I turn less than 85 hrs in a week.  So why am I still feeling like I did 80 plus?🤨
