 Monday 

 Motivation is directly related to the weather that day. Thursday was warm enough that I was able to give the grass a trimming just so it would look equal height. Wasn't the best weather this weekend for a lot of folks, hope everyone stayed safe. Daffodils are stretching their legs as well as some tulips. Calling for snow tonight so we will be covering what we can. New gas mains have been pulled on both sides of the street. Once they get that ready to hold gas then they will start digging up everyone front yards and relocate the gas meters outside the house. Depending on the weather, it should be a muddy/dusty spring.

Been cloudy, damp and showery here for quite a while. Although we need the rain. The water reservoir is at 45% full. Not a good thing the way the community has been building lately. 

Did get to the lathe a little yesterday. 

 

I did manage to complete something over the weekend. A small table Marie needed for one of here Chrstmas gifts. I made this just to fit that purpose. Certainly not heirloom quality, and I really had to scrounge through my woodpile to find enough cherry to make it. Then I decided on turned legs, which just added to the time it took to get it done. I wanted the legs to more ornate, but my lack of turning skills made me do something a lot simpler. So the shelf and the top field are plywood, surrounded with solid cherry and the top has that walnut inlay going around it. I finished it with a coat of garnet shellac, followed by some alkyd resin varnish. he first pic is the turned legs with a prototype i made to see if I could do it. then the table.

Those legs turned out fantastic! The lamb's tongue detail is really nice. I think the design of the legs fits perfectly into the overall table shape/design.

Dreary, gloomy, cool and extremely wet weekend; did the bare minimum.

 

Week ahead: monthly meetings at the church tonight and Wednesday; some needed errands tomorrow; youngest grandson's final elementary spring music program Thursday evening. Outside work will again be hampered by both the unseasonable cold weather, wind and near daily chances for rain or wintery mix. Beginning to look like Spring has been postponed until 2026.

 Nice work on the table Fred. I like the way you finished the top & the shelf, in the top pic it looks like a raised edging but in the bottom pic it is clearly flat.

guesthouse tub drain was slow......took drain assy out...oh, large hair ball and jingle bell (1")....wtf????.....reassembled....still slow.....get out boroscope and long grabby tool....ah ha!.....water bottle cap....little cussing happens, finally get it out.....now tub drain works perfectly (drain should keep up with inflow of spigot or shower head).  much joy ensues, time for some ice cream - happiness is a working drain.  or a warm puppy.

Those things have saved me more than once!

Got out yesterday and tried the new to me box blade. Man talk about moving dirt. Doing again today and will take some pics.
