March 31, 20251 yr Popular Post Good Monday morning! Good Monday morning Patriot Woodworkers! What did you get done over the weekend, and what have you planned for the week ahead! Inquiring minds want to know. Please tell us what's happening in your shops, your life, and any events going on with you. Thank you for being here folks! Recruit Update We got our first call from our son from Army In-processing at Ft Jackson SC yesterday afternoon. He got his buzz cut, his uniforms, his TA-50 (web gear and belts etc), pictures (he said he looked stupid LOL), and medical and shots. He said the food wasn't bad, but Friday they had the best food he'd seen at the chow hall yet since he got there, smoked meats, BBQ, and he was bummed out because he's observing Fish Fridays for Lent! So he had fish. He told us they'll be transferred to their basic training barracks today (Monday the 31st). We'll get one more call once he's there, that'll be the short call, the report-in to let mama and dad know he's safe and in the care of those lovely drill instructors. Such an adventure! Featured Download Featured Video I was captivated by this video, it has it all, the craft, the man, the music. Grab a cup of coffee and get into a serene mood and watch this classic. I love it. I am not sure where this man lives, possibly Australia, you'll see him use second hand lumber for a few of the boat components, he even scavenges the shoreline at low tide for boat wrecks and pulls some lumber and hardware off those washed up wrecks to build this boat. He doesn't get too wound up with perfection, but the boat is perfect in every way. Have fun!

March 31, 20251 yr Popular Post Hectic weekend; both granddaughters spent Saturday with us; youngest spent the night preparing to return to campus yesterday; after church, rush to get both girls on the road before storms hit; then the storms hit, scary at times with the wind and reported tornado not far away; watched a little NCAA tourney but I don't have a dog in the hunt. Today, rested up a bit. Remainder of the week the Mrs. has assigned me a couple errands but no mention of donut procurements. PU grandson after school music practice Thursday. Doesn't sound like much outside work will be accomplished with severe storms returning Wednesday and rain in daily forecast 8/10 days; total accumulation estimated 2.5"-6". We REALLY need a break from the storms, wind, rain and cold weather to PU sticks as the yard has really greened up and starting to grow.
March 31, 20251 yr Popular Post mail Call, today...have been informed that my Landlord has passed away..so tomorrow, I get to go and talk to the "New landlord"... April 1, 20251 yr Popular Post Been kinda busy lately. Got the primer on the trailer. Rewired for lights. Then off to big box for ply and electrical for shop. They had special 18 month financing deal, can’t beat that. after the haul and unload planted 4 pecan trees and 2 cherry. Then time to rip some cedar for picnic table. Note there are three more logs like that one.
April 1, 20251 yr Popular Post The roof is done! I was fitting the last piece when the wind picked up and just about folded it in half. With aoud nNO!!! I got it back, but the dog was headed to the house. I didn't rest. Three loads of pallets and a load of lumber were delivered to make tables for another woman, and I have to assemble her greenhouse on Friday. My granddaughter and her boyfriend are arriving Friday, guess what they're going to be doing? A little work and we'll see what he's got going for himself. I thought I was retired.

April 2, 20251 yr Popular Post The pallets are a 1 time use and an odd size, 63 x 39", so no one wanted them. Until now. The owner of the pallet shop said someone was buying them now, most likely for the lumber.
April 2, 20251 yr Popular Post Made contact with the realty people....all properties are to be sold, once the Estate has gone through Probate...gave the fellow my info, and an offer for the house.. Since it takes awhile...still need to be current with the rent. Might feel like a bit of shop time, later?
