March 28, 20251 yr Popular Post Looks like it's Friday again folks. Still waiting on WeEnergies tree cutting crew to take down the last two trees they want removed. Wish they would get done so I can get the area where they'll be working cleaned up for some spring planting. It's supposed to rain most of the weekend here, so I doubt they'll be here today. It's raining now. So, while I wait out the storms I'll be going through a box of laptop/notebook computers I was given a while back to see what is salvageable. So far three out of the five I've checked are still usable just not for Windows 11. Two of those will need batteries but run off the chargers. So, while I go about that, What's on Your Weekend Agenda?
March 28, 20251 yr Popular Post Will start on an important commission today. I've been asked to make a sword for our 6 y.o. granddaughter. She wants dragons engraved on it. It'll be half inch BB. Probably on-lay thin walnut on the handle.
March 28, 20251 yr Popular Post I have no projects planned for this weekend so it will be a clean up the shop weekend. This reminds me of something that happened this week. Have you ever tried to throw away one of those 40 gal. plastic trashcans that is worn out? You can't put a note that says TRASH on it because the guys that work on the trash truck will think "This guy has a total grasp of the obvious." So for the last 40 years if I needed to throw away a worn out trash can I had to cut it up and put it in another trashcan. A few months ago our city waste disposal company sent out a notice that they were giving us one of those heavy duty 70 gal. trashcans with a lid like the recycle bins we have had for several years and on the notice they said if we wanted to dispose of our old trash can just put them out at the curb on Wednesday which is the bulk trash removal day. Finally I can get rid of an old trashcan without having to cut it up first. So last Wednesday I placed one of my old trashcans upside down at the curb for them to pick up. Later Wednesday evening I walked out into the garage to get something and I had to do a double take, "Why it the trashcan I put at the curb sitting in my garage?" Then it dawned on me, when my daughter came over to pick up my granddaughter I guess she figured she would do old Dad a favor and bring in the empty trashcan. I swear you have to NUKE one of the things to get rid of them. So this weekend as well as cleaning up the shop I will be cutting up another old worn out trashcan for disposal.
March 28, 20251 yr Popular Post "Someone" has been hinting that the grass is starting to turn greener and maybe it's time to swap out the lawn mower for the snowblower. Small garden shed storage is allocated by seasons so most of the stuff has to come out and shuffled around.
March 28, 20251 yr Popular Post Still waiting on special orders from HQ. Both granddaughters are home through Sunday. Celebrated oldest grandsons 14th birthday yesterday. Really need to pick up sticks from the yard but that won't be today or this weekend for that matter as we've already had gusts today ~40 mph; more of the same plus rain and storms this weekend. Church Sunday. Today, a few domestic duties to earn my keep, then I may venture out to the garage for a bit. It's warm enough I can do nothing out there equally as well as in the house. Donut think I'll find any donuts out there but nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I still have one (or two?) in the garage. Might come in handy one of these days!
March 29, 20251 yr Popular Post Been working on my new to me trailer . Tandem axle 16 foot. Had new deck , not screwed on so I pulled it and the wire for lights was on top of the steel . Primed the whole trailer gray and started onrewire. Could not get a spark and may be my truck as in 22 years the hitch has not been used. Have a Craft show tomorrow. Not that you're looking for extra work but I'd suggest pulling the hubs to clean, check and repack the wheel bearings unless you have a time frame when that was last performed.

I haven’t figured out one for the holes, but I have one that holds the post in place in the hole. It attaches to the previous set post and holds the next post at the right distance and plumb n the hole while I fill it with concrete.
