March 23, 20251 yr I have Bamboo around the shop. It's a very study material. I will cut a piece or two of hickory. I will test this several times before I’m happy with the fit.. Edited March 23, 20251 yr by BillyJack
March 23, 20251 yr I like the double runners. Really improves the accuracy/stability. Never used bamboo but I have seen cutting boards made from it. My basement shop can vary in humidity from summer to winter. Does hickory change much with humidity?

I think if you have a very humid basement, you either seal hickory, etc or use a man made material.
March 23, 20251 yr Author I have a panel sled for cutting raised panels square that were too large for the RAS. I really didn’t have a use for a meter sled, but I need to one eliminated as much material from my shop and two I may use it to remake my poster frames in the rec room..

For 2 sleds I have, that require the most precision, I used steel runners that perfectly fit the miter slot on the table saw. Expensive. I like the sealing idea. Have to try it. My picture frame sled with a couple of adjustable legs for repeatable lengths. Cut all angles for one end of each piece on one side of the jig. Then cut the pieces to the correct length/angle on the opposite side of the jig. This method creates perfect miter joints.
March 23, 20251 yr Author My problem is I don’t a bunch of sleds, I want a sled. My sled will now be called the “Whatchamacallit”…
March 23, 20251 yr Author That’s my problem. They get lost or don’t have the room. I thre a bunch of jigs away including a box joint jig. They get sloppy..
