Gaming table top help

Featured Replies

he wants a table top design such that if you spill a drink, the liquid is contained to a known location, like where his least favorite friend normally sits and drains into his lap.

Just use a core box bit…

When someone at our local poker game spills a drink I know it's a good time to start bluffing :D

Got to thinking about the width of the plywood lip (red arrow). Made it a bit wider so it would be less likely to split off. Also I used cabinet grade plywood dimensions for the thickness of the piece (3/4")

I'd make the first dado cut at "A" and remove 7/16" of material. The raise the blade and make the second cut at "B" and remove 3/8" of material. The finally route the trough at "C" with a 3/8" diameter half round bit.

The attaching leaf edge would be a mirrored profile but without the trough.

Hope that makes sense.

Sure does and I need to be careful to match 3/4 to T and 3/8 to 1/2T and I can step the cove bit down at the ends to facilitate draining.  Thanks

Much and now to go make some simple pieces to make sure it all works.

ha, i got it!

buy a mess of sponges, hot glue to plywood, cover with felt.  it'll just suck up whatever is spilled.  when done, take a roller to it to squeeze out the excess liquid.

Sounds like a "Red Green" solution :throbbinghead:

well, he'd use duct tape not hot glue.....

Not to hijack the post, but I'm impressed with Lew's skills with Sketchup!

Use any leftovers of the tubing so you can drain that excess liquid back into a glass :D

recycling!!!! waste not, want not.

Solution : Wipe the liquid up with a towel.:P

sippy cups for all!

Well after all of this the customer my son decided just but them together.  If the spills get into the recessed area we will notice.

The aux table top is for complete coverage of the gaming table when not in use.

When asked what it will be used for the customer said it was probably going to be a large folding table when not in use.

Now that has been settled I may use dowel or numbers under poly so that they know what goes where.
