February 14, 20251 yr Popular Post Looks like another Friday snuck up on us. Here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" we're waiting to see how much of that frozen four letter word we'll be getting this evening through tomorrow. Other than that I'll be doing "A Whole Lot Of Nothing" which means I won't know when I'm done. What's on Your Weekend Agenda?
February 14, 20251 yr Popular Post Shop remains closed until temperatures get above 40° which isn't in the ten day forecast. Busy weekend nonetheless. Church is hosting a Valentines Dinner tonight. Headed down state tomorrow AM for youngest granddaughters final collegiate, conference championship, swim meet final day events. After 11 years of competitive swimming, her swim career will conclude; bitter sweet day. The Conference also individually recognizes all Seniors before the evening finals. It's gonna be a really long day. As I have the past two days, I'll watch her events today via livestream and Meet Mobile app. Sunday, church services.
February 14, 20251 yr Popular Post Started putting the finish on the little wave bowl. Basement temperature is below 60°, each application takes a while to get dry.
February 14, 20251 yr Popular Post Thanks for the topic Larry, just enjoying all this rain we are getting right now, it's a rarity in our parts. The house is relaxed, fireplace burning, coffee, hanging out here, hanging out in the garage and tool around, poke at some projects, dust off some tools, and listen to the rain come down, just a really wonderful day. Hope ya'll having a wonderful weekend, be safe in all you do, and remember, as the famous Ralph Jones always said, "keep your hands at least 6" away from the table saw blade."
February 14, 20251 yr Popular Post Too bleeding cold to be sticking me nose out the door...intend to as little as I can get away with, even less if everybody lets me... About back to "normal" with the new computer tower....all except photo edits....but, I am SLOWLY getting the hang of that operation...re-sizing seems to be the worst part...
February 14, 20251 yr Popular Post Just making another wooden storage box. Several months ago I made one to house a palm sander and a couple of accessories and I blew it by making the box too small, accessories wouldn't fit. So out of sheer boredom I decided to build one the right size and started on it today. I'll finish it tomorrow. It has been too wet lately to go pick up the wood I need to start the storage shelfs for my granddaughter's bedroom.
February 14, 20251 yr Popular Post My grandson who's getting married in a couple months is looking to outfit an apartment. I picked this up today for $10. The chairs will need cleaning, touch up, and regluing and I think I'll be stripping and refinishing the table top. But for $10, I couldn't buy much wood to make one from scratch.

Chairs resemble some of their line. They also marketed the oval tables too. Assuming so, it's likely all maple. It'll last him a life once you make the repairs. They made some really good furniture in the 1950's-1970's both in maple and cherry.

Not a lifetime piece, perhaps, but it will see them thru until they get more or less settled somewhere.

Clean, sand , etc and spray the chairs and table at the same time..

Well in the last couple of weeks, I got the chairs taken apart and reglued, then cleaned and touch-up any scratches and wear and tear. Same with the legs. Today, took advantage of the nice weather and stripped to top to prepare for refinishing it. And stopped on my way home and got some stain that I think will match reasonably well.
